Ascension catholic school e-news MAY 26, 2016 TAKE YOUR CANDLE, AND GO LIGHT YOUR WORLD! BACCALAUREATE MASS Yesterday s Baccalaureate Mass was beautiful! We celebrate this group of students and their outstanding academic achievements. We marvel at their many athletic accomplishments. We remember fondly how cute they looked when they started here in Pre-k. Wasn t that only yesterday? We look back with great pride on the many times they lived out the gospel by performing acts of service and charity. Please join us in praying that God will always continue to bless our Class of 2016. Take your candle, and go light your world! Our graduation ceremony is at 6:30 p.m. Friday night in the church. ATHLETICS NEWS FROM COACH AMICO damico@ascensioncatholicsch.org On Tuesday night, our Ascension Black team lost in the championship game to St. Mary s 27-19 in overtime. What a great game! Our kids played their hearts out, but came up short. Both our Black and Gold teams had a great season. The coaches did a fine job and many thanks go out to all of them! We are already preparing for next season. I sent out the new calendar for sports for next season via email 2 weeks ago. We start with K-5 soccer, basketball for girls and soccer for boys. There will be open gym this summer. It will start on June 14th and will run on Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8 pm. See the flyer on page 6 for details and return the bottom portion to Coach Amico before school ends, or you can bring it with you the first night of open gym. There will also be some open soccer nights. Look for information about that coming via email this summer. These opportunities were such a great benefit for our kids to improve this past summer and it showed during their seasons. Following open gym, our girls basketball team went undefeated and the boys soccer team ended up finishing 3rd with a bunch of young players returning. Open gym is definitely an advantage for our teams! Thanks to all of the parents and coaches who made 2015-2016 such a great year! We look forward to another funfilled school year in 2016-2017!
