Doing this means the professional must incorporate input and activity from a host of specialized professions from construction to banking to investment. Real Estate development of commercial properties brings challenges and considerations that vary greatly from development in the residential market. Consequently, this area requires specific knowledge in dealing with the various aspects, including financial viability and in the areas of construction, banking and investment. RE7004i Real Estate Development Finance This course enables students to understand the mechanisms and options for financing a Real estate development project. The course examines many aspects of development finance, tax implications, getting a development plan together and determining the risk and return details. As such, it is fundamental to an understanding of the real estate development process, as well as to real estate finance. It builds upon the concepts included in The Development Process course, and is complementary to the course in Real Estate Finance. However, none of these courses are prerequisite to any other. GEMA6006 Project Management Framework This course examines the definition of a project and provides a basic structure for the introduction to the project management processes and how they can be used in to successfully manage a project. It provides an understanding of the basic terms and terminology of project management and lays the ground-work for the understanding of project management. It also examines the role of a project manager, the project team and stakeholders on projects. It provides an insight to the Project Management plans. With the growth of the real estate developments in both the domestic and international markets, especially in the areas of private / public housing and commercial developments. There has been a market demand for persons working in the real estate service to have a sound knowledge of how to manage projects.

Participants will be introduced to a standard project financing instruments. Project finance and risk management are key areas of project management within organisations today. The value of closely managing the financial aspects of a project, and the migration of treats or opportunities from the initial planning stage, through to implementation, and during project close out cannot be underestimated. RE7028i Construction Management The primary objective of the course is to provide the student with a working understanding of the principles and practices essential to managing construction projects effectively. The construction management process holds unique challenges for the Real Estate professional. There are a wide range of factors influencing scope, cost and schedule that need to be studied in depth to ensure the most accurate and timely results are reached. RE7002i Strategic Negotiation This course enables participants to learn and to deploy successful negotiation strategies for business in general or real estate in particular. The course examines the process of negotiation, from the pre-negotiation to the conclusion phases. This course aims to enable participants to understand the differences between traditional two-party negotiations and multilateral negotiations, as well as the differences between the national and international business environments and the impact of structure on business negotiations and the influence of culture. Effective negotiation is a critical skill for the real estate irrespective irrespective of whether their chosen career trajectory is in real estate development, finance, or project management. Real Estate Development Case Study and Final Paper The Real Estate Development Case Study and Final Paper is intended to be flexible to encompass the varying interests and needs of students. Students may elect to do a consulting project, or a research project. This paper is essential for participants to be able to consolidate the learning in all of the preceding modules.
