2 Hi there my name s Mils, and I m the Programme Leader for this degree and head of the new Risk, Resilience Corporate Security Management Cell here at the University of Northampton. Firstly, many thanks for your interest in considering studying for the exciting Master s degree in Applied Risk and Crisis Management that we plan to launch in January I hope that you find the information set out on the following pages both interesting and compelling. We are working to develop a world-class Masters degree programme that combines bringing you up-to-speed with academic concepts whilst simultaneously ensuring that you are equipped with practical skills. We are developing this course in partnership with Graham Flood-Hunt a leading trainer of diplomatic staff, military and corporate personnel, international aid workers, peacekeepers and others. Graham brings extensive applied field and training expertise and a commitment to enhancing the ability of you and your team to function effectively and efficiently under pressure. It is of critical importance to us that our degree begins and remains current and relevant for that reason we are staffing an Advisory Board of senior and operational figures from military, third-sector, health, business, law enforcement and other sectors to keep our content and approach on point to the demands both of employers and the dynamic risk environment. They will also contribute case studies and other material unique to this programme. Many of our students are likely to be at a point of transition in their careers looking to formalise their expertise gathered in military or other service, perhaps. 6 ENTRY CRITERIA This Programme is designed for those with substantive managerial experience gained, for example, in the corporate, private, international aid, security or military sectors. A first degree is not necessarily a prerequisite for enrolment practical experience will be taken into consideration. Under certain circumstances, it may be possible for you to directly transfer into the second year of our programme under Accreditation of Prior Learning. Please ask for more details. In order to give you the widest range of benefit from your studies, we have achieved a unique outcome: the degree will be known as the Masters in Applied Risk & Crisis Management, giving you specialist accreditation but the degree certificate will show Masters in Business Leadership, giving you broader use value including competing with MBA graduates. Truly, the best of both worlds. Fees The total fee for this two year programme will be 7,200. Early bird registrations will attract a further significant discount (10%) in exchange for payment of the initial instalment.
