The M.Sc. Program The M.Sc. Program in Educational Leadership is offered as a twoyear low residency mode designed for individuals working, or planning to work, in universities, policy-making institutions, and research settings who want to develop their leadership capacities for educational change. There are 3 areas of specialization within the M.Sc. Program in Educational Leadership program: Higher Education School Leadership Inclusive Education
The M.A. Program The M.A. in Multilingual Education is a 2-year, full-time program taught on campus at Nazarbayev University. The M.A. in Multilingual Education: covers theories, policies and practices of multilingual education; is closely linked to trilingual education. This program focuses on: the development of teaching, curriculum development, assessment; policy analysis; and research skills in language policy and language teaching.
The Ph.D. Program The Ph.D. program began in September 2013, and at the moment has a total of 27 students. Entry to the Ph.D. program is highly competitive, and graduates of the program will be qualified to teach and research at the highest academic international standards in universities, or to take on roles in government or international organizations. The Ph.D. program takes a minimum of 3 years, with one semester spent studying abroad at one of the partneruniversities.
Who teaches in the GSE? In terms of nationality and international experience, GSE faculty members come from and/or have taught in Spain, France, the UK, Singapore, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, the US and Canada. Each of our faculty members holds a doctoral degree from one of the leading universities around the world. All are active researchers and scholars. What do the programs cost? All students accepted for one of the programs in the GSE are funded by the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This means that: they do not pay tuition costs; they receive a monthly stipend; and for M.A. and Ph.D. students, non-astana residents receive on-campus accommodation (subject to availability).
Application Information Candidates interested in applying for admission to a graduate program in the Graduate School of Education will need to submit the following materials: On-Line Application Form (admissions.nu.edu.kz) Evidence of Appropriate Previous Degrees (min. GPA - 2.75) Evidence of English Proficiency (next slide) Personal Essay (Statement of Purpose) Research proposal (only for PhD applicants) Letters of Reference Documents will be reviewed and shortlisted applicants may be invited for interview. Entry to Master s and Ph.D. programs is highly competitive.

Timelines The deadline for submission of applications for the M.Sc., M.A. and Ph.D programs is 13 May 2016. The deadline for submission of IELTS and TOEFL certificates is 10 June, 2016 Document screening and interviews will take place in May/June, 2016. Students who are required to take the summer intensive English course begin on the 4 of July, 2016. M.Sc. Program studies start on the 8 August, 2016. Ph.D. and M.A. studies start on the 1 September, 2016.
