A HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY EDI AND HIPAA COLLABORATIVE EVENT PacifiCare is gathering payers, governmental officials and vendors together for what promises to be an informative and educational day of discussion regarding Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) healthcare industry facts in Scottsdale, Arizona. The purpose of this event is to inform our provider community of current EDI transactions available and offer (via vendor partners) a way to engage in EDI activity. Our goal is to educate the provider community about EDI and to ultimately increase EDI submission rates. No longer the wave of the future, EDI is the reality of today. EDI continues to be the preferred method of transaction submission to all health insurance payers. With the introduction to the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) in 1996, and with the CMS enforcement requirements for the standardization of data you have now been introduced to a variety of EDI functionalities. PacifiCare has joined forces with UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, AHCCCS, Arizona Physician s IPA, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, CIGNA, Health Net, Humana, Noridian, Phoenix Health Plan, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Arizona Department of Insurance and other leading healthcare industry partners to provide a collaboration of first hand knowledge, experience and lessons learned about the process of implementing EDI transactions with Trading Partners. Together we would like to continue to help you move into the EDI environment and achieve data standards compliance if you have not already done so. We also want to improve our EDI services to you and continue to service your needs in the most efficient manner. Throughout the course of the day, presenters will be discussing an array of topics regarding EDI to provide you with an understanding of their company s EDI implementation approach, implementation challenges and goals for 2005. (See the Seminar Topics of Discussion for further details.) This event is FREE to the provider community! It is a fully sponsored event, brought to you by PacifiCare, Electronic Network Services (ENS) and UnitedHealthcare (UHC) and other healthcare leaders (see list below).
