Welcome The Master of Science in Organization Development and Leadership (MODL) at Saint Joseph s University is designed for professionals who want to lead change and achieve outstanding results in today s complex organizations. Graduates of the MODL program function as influential change agents, consultants, trainers and coaches. The rigorous curriculum of the MODL program promotes the practical application of enhanced leadership capabilities. Students are encouraged to explore and share information, resources, and ideas, as well as innovative strategies to direct change in organizations, facilitate learning, and understand the implications for application of research. Students can choose from among three concentrations: Adult Learning and Training, Organizational Psychology and Development, and Organization Dynamics and Leadership. Each concentration is unique in content and delivery mode and is focused on providing an opportunity to learn, explore and share practical information, ideas, and strategies. Concentrations Adult Learning and Training The Adult Learning and Training concentration strengthens the ability of adult educators, facilitators, consultants, change agents, e-learning professionals, program designers, health education professionals, and talent managers. This program is also geared to students wanting to get an overall background in the field of organizational development. Students will develop skills in designing and facilitating learning solutions in corporations and non-profit training, human resources and talent management departments, and consulting firms. The curriculum consists of 12 three-credit courses. It is designed for busy professionals who have a clear understanding of their education objectives and who want to earn their master s degree without interrupting their careers. The curriculum of the program focuses on the human side of business with training in organizational behavior, leadership development and personal growth. This program is an ideal option for people who already have an MBA or master s in another field and want to pursue a second master s in the human side of business. The curriculum consists of 12 three-credit courses. The 36 credits are distributed as: Foundation courses (three courses/9 credits) and Elective courses (nine courses/27 credits). Post-Master s Certificate in Adult Learning and Training, Organizational Psychology and Development, and Organization Dynamics and Leadership. Students who have earned a graduate degree can earn a Certificate through the successful completion of six courses/18 credits. All applicants for a MODL Certificate must follow the Admissions procedure for the MODL degree. Credits in the certificate program are transferrable to a master s degree program. Transferring courses from other colleges and universities is not applicable for the Certificate. Outcomes As a graduate of the MODL program, you will acquire a specialized skills set that will equip you with the necessary tools to guide positive change in your organization. Your skills set will be versatile and cross functional as you serve as a leader to create sustainable value for your company. Some of these knowledge areas include: Admission Requirements and Application Procedure Students seeking admission to the Organization Development and Leadership Graduate Program must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university. In addition, applicants to the Adult Learning and Training concentration must have two or more years of professional work experience, those applying to Organizational Psychology and Development s must have four or more years of professional work experience, and those applying to the Organizational Dynamics and Leadership program must have a minimum of eight years professional work expereince. The recommended undergraduate GPA is 2.7. Applicants with minimal work expereince may have to, at the Program Director s discretion, submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores or request provisional status for admission. Financial Assistance Students applying for financial aid administered by must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). In order to be eligible for federal financial assistance, the applicant must be enrolled on a half-time basis (at least 6 credits per semester) and be a citizen of the United States or have permanent resident status. Stafford Loans are available through the University s Financial Assistance Office. Graduate Assistantships Application for graduate assistantships should be made to the Director of the MODL program, but applicants should be aware that assistantships are limited and highly competitive.
