1 ANSWERING THE CALL TO SERVE THEOLOGY Master of Arts in Theology
2 1 WALSH UNIVERSITY MASTER OF ARTS IN THEOLOGY 2 THEOLOGY It s possibly the only calling in which one is required to serve in order to lead. A theologybased profession demands a dedication to God s plan and an uncompromising willingness to help others. The Walsh University Master of Arts in Theology program prepares contemporary Christian leaders for the challenges of ministering in a changing world a world in which the need for pastoral leadership extends beyond the boundaries of the church building. The Walsh program offers four tracks: Parish Administration, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Education, and the academic, non-terminal track which provides a stepping stone to pursuing a Ph.D. Whether you are currently in ministry or have recently been called to give back in the form of service, the Master of Arts in Theology program will prepare you to take your faith into the community and the world. Through this program, we help our students turn theory into practice and respond effectively to today s spiritual needs. Graduates of the program may serve in churches and various other ministry settings, facilitating retreats or other spiritual programs; or may serve as parish administrators or parish office managers. Walsh University can help you in your journey to serve, and help you in your journey towards an advanced degree in theology. Student Learning Outcomes The goal of the Master of Arts in Theology program is to ensure that by the end of the program, our students should have the ability to: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the scriptural witness to revelation. Demonstrate an understanding of the development of doctrine throughout the history of the Church. Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamental Catholic doctrines in the context of the communal worship and Christian life. Demonstrate an understanding of the process of theological inquiry. Demonstrate the ability to communicate the products of theological inquiry. I have gained a sense of renewal and understanding of God s love. I am very thankful for how the Masters in Theology program has prepared me academically, socially and spiritually. Miguel Chavez Campus Minister

All courses are geared toward the intellectual, human, pastoral, and spiritual development of the student as a servant leader in the community. Small classes allow more individualized instruction that can be tailored to our students individual interests and needs. Flexible scheduling allows our students to pursue the program at your own pace. Most graduate classes are offered in the evening to accommodate working adults. The Walsh program is affordable and features many discount opportunities. People of all faith traditions are welcome to apply. Mission Statement Walsh University Division of Theology Grounded in the Sacred Scriptures and Sacred Tradition, The Walsh University Division of Theology creates a professional and supportive environment where students of all faiths can engage in serious academic study of the meaning of Christianity for the life of the world. They can be prepared as well for effective pastoral ministry for the good of the People of God, who, as the Body of Christ, are called to be an exemplary community, a prophetic voice and an effective catalyst for social change. Guided in particular by the document Gaudium et Spes, we offer a program that is Roman Catholic in nature and content by actively promoting the dialogue between faith and reason. Thus our program, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, is intellectually rigorous, collaborative, ecumenical, and pastoral. Our goal is to reflect, the best we can, The Kingdom of God in our work, trusting always that in this task of creating one human family Sed Deus Dat Incrementum.
