3 Graduate School D Youville graduates become top-level administrators, superintendents and teacher educators who make a difference in the schools and communities they serve. As executive administrators, they set educational standards and goals. They establish policies and procedures, supervise managers, lead academic departments, and hire and develop staff. **The Educational Leadership EdD program is not intended to lead to certification as a school admnistratrator. Educational Leadership The doctoral program in educational leadership at D Youville College is dynamic and diverse as reflected in its faculty composition, courses offered and quality of students it attracts. The program is designed to prepare educational professionals to confront leadership challenges and engage in effective policy research, analysis and implementation. The D Youville educational leadership doctoral program propels educators into government and private sector top-level P-20 administrative and policy making positions and inspires them to make a difference in changing and improving educational processes in countries, organizations, and communities they serve. D Youville Advantages Take professional core courses after and place in topics such as cultural perspectives, advanced curriculum issues, assessment of teaching and learning, and organizational behavior, and educational law and finance. Learn from established and diverse educational leaders who will serve as advisors, dissertation committee members, and program consultants and reviewers. Collaborate and network with peer learners in a small-class environment. Take convenient courses in the evenings, weekends and during summer. Graduate from a college whose reputation in teacher education is well-known and highly respected.

4 Educational Leadership curriculum summary ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS In addition to the program curriculum listed to the right, doctoral candidates are required to do the following: Complete a qualifying paper at the completion of all coursework prerequisite to the dissertation. Students must successfully produce a qualifying paper before proceeding to take EDL722. Present a defense of the dissertation proposal and completed dissertation. (See the doctoral programs in education dissertation handbook for the detailed presentation of the dissertation requirement). Transferring Credits Students may transfer up to 40 graduate credits with grades of B or better at the discretion of the program director. Credits must be from an accredited institution in courses appropriate to the program. In the event applicants have fewer than 45 hours of prior graduate work, prerequisite courses will be necessary to complete the total required. 5 Applying We made it easy to apply with our online application. Admission to most of our graduate programs is on a rolling basis. The earlier you apply, the earlier you will be notified of a decision. We look forward to receiving your application and learning about your academic interests and background. Financial Aid & Scholarships financialaid@dyc.edu At D Youville College, we understand that financing a graduate education can be difficult. That s why we have various forms of financial aid available for all students, such as scholarships, grants and loans. New entering graduate students are automatically reviewed for award eligibility, though a minimum G.P.A. of 3.25 or higher is required. Continuing graduate students can apply for a retention scholarship assistantship directly with the academic department. Canadian Student Discount We currently award a 20% net tuition discount to Canadian students. This discount applies to tuition only. Ontario residents may also be eligible to apply for OSAP funding. Our financial aid office will complete the required paperwork, however Ontario does not confirm award eligibility prior to enrollment. Educational Leadership admissions requirements Prospective candidates are required to forward the following items to the graduate admissions office: A completed doctoral programs application Official undergraduate and graduate transcripts of all institutions attended Submission of any one of the following: GRE, GMAT, or LSAT scores In addition to the application procedure, candidates must present the following: A completed master s degree, with a minimum graduate grade point average of 3.5 (based on a 4.0 system) Evidence of leadership and professionalism in education or a related field Two letters of professional recommendation A word written statement of goals for pursuing doctoral study One writing sample from your graduate program coursework, not to exceed 30 pages in length. Professional resume or curriculum vitae Students being considered for admission will be asked to come to campus to be interviewed by education leadership faculty Applications for admission are considered on a competitive basis. Provisional Admission Applicants who do not meet the above criteria but have a graduate grade point average of at least 3.25 and show promise will be reviewed on an individual basis by the admissions committee and may be admitted provisionally. While on provisional status, the student must meet all academic requirements of the program and must receive grades of B or better in the first four courses of the program.
