Roger Sundermeier, marketing director for First Arkansas Bank and Trust, presented branding guidelines for the Titans mascot including the color palette and type treatment. Mr. Sundermeier said the guidelines should give some creative freedom to allow students flexibility in the mascot use. He suggested the brand be trademarked and housed on the District s website. The new brand included the shield as a tribute to the military, a lightning bolt for the Titans and the letter J for Jacksonville. Variations for elementary schools and the middle school were included. Mr. Moore moved, seconded by Ms. Watson, approval of the branding guidelines with the full graphic options for schools and to allow some flexibility in its use. It was further stipulated that the trademarking process begin immediately. The motion carried four to two. Ms. Dornblaser and Ms. Toney voted no. Intra-District Superintendent Wood provided results of the intra-district Student Transfers student transfer survey. The results reflected approximately 85 percent of respondents were non-black and approximately 42 percent were seeking a transfer to Arnold Drive Elementary. Ms. Miles said change was hard for everyone but did not think the District could implement transfers the first year of operation. Ms. Watson asked that the comments provided be looked at to see if overall improvements were needed.
