Aglent mantans a publcly accessble FTP server that contans the latest E5810B frmware at: ftp.aglent.com Logn: anonymous Password: <your emal address> The latest E5810B frmware s located at /pub/e5810/e5810b/e5810_b_latest_frmware.hex. Pror versons are also avalable n ths FTP drectory. If you cannot access the Aglent FTP server from your E5810B, you can use any standard FTP server that s avalable, provded you have an mage of the frmware. The requrements are an FTP server, an mage of the E5810B frmware, and a LAN connecton between the E5810B and the FTP server. The procedure to update the E5810B frmware depends on whether or not the Aglent FTP ste s accessble from the E5810B or how your network s confgured. The E5810B FTP clent used to upload new frmware s a standard FTP clent and currently does not support proxes. Refer to the E5810B User s Gude for more nformaton on the Telnet utlty. When the Telnet clent s launched, you can vew the system log by typng syslog-dsplay. After a successful frmware update, the E5810B systems log should show normal startup messages as shown below. In ths case, try the followng: Verfy the FTP server address. Verfy that the frmware FTP server doman name s correct and fully qualfed. A doman name s a symbolc name for an IP address. For example, ftp.aglent.com s the doman name for IP Address 192.6.143.21. Try to manually use the FTP to access the FTP server that contans the E5810B frmware. Troubleshootng gudelnes Manually enter the DNS server address. For the frmware update process to use a doman name, the E5810B must have a DNS setup. If you statcally confgured the IP address for the E5810B, you wll need to manually enter the DNS server address n the Confgurng your E5810B LAN/GPIB/USB Gateway page. Use the IP address. Try usng the IP address of the FTP server nstead of the doman name. 4 Check logn, password, and frmware name entres. Ensure that the logn, password, and frmware flename are entered correctly and that the logn name and password match a vald user account on the FTP server. v Check drectory nformaton. Ensure that the correct drectory nformaton s present (f needed), such as /pub/e5810/e5810b/e5810_b_latest_frmware.hex. If you use the drectory nformaton, make sure that the drectory desgnator character s correct for your FTP server. Some FTP servers use / (forward slash) and others use \ (backslash).
