Connecting our future with light COMPANY PROFILE

Company Background has been the first ever Nationwide Telecommunication Transmission Network (NTTN) operator granted by Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) in the aim of creating a telecommunication infrastructure company to build, operate and maintain nationwide Fiber Optic Transmission network to be shared by all ANS operators including Mobile operators, ISPs, PSTN operators, Gateway operators, Cable TV operators, Government entities etc. This fiber optical transmission network will eventually become the major backbone for all kinds of telecommunications and electronic entertainment services that are the prime elements of modern life. Later Fiber @ Home Ltd. also awarded with ITC License on 5 th Januray, 2012 and IIG license on 12 th April, 2012 which is attach here with. After being awarded with the NTTN license on 7 January 2009, Fiber @Home Ltd has established more than 6832 km optical fiber long haul backbone covering 23 districts, connecting Dhaka with Chittagong, Sylhet, Bogra, Rajshahi, Jessore and Khulna. This network includes 650 Km Metro City Network, Nationwide network of 1678 Km amongwhich 1278 Km deployed by the company by own and Leased network of 4529 Km covering both metro and nationwide network. The company has acquired approximately 1898 Km of nationwide OPGW fiber optic network from Power Grid Corporation of Bangladesh (PGCB) in early 2013 which ultimately will provide greater nationwide presence in Bangladesh and also will provide redundancy of currently deployed network. Presently all major Telco s, ISPs, CATV Operators and Infrastructure Providers are connected through Fiber @ Home Ltd. There are more than 61 M Sc./B Sc. Engineers and 36 Dip. Engineers working with Fiber @ Home Ltd. Present manpower state of Fiber @ Home Ltd is 295. Majority of the employees have telecom background. The company has also established 41 Hop and CO all over the country to facilitate nationwide transmission service. Vision: To Build, Develop, Operate and Maintain a Nationwide Optical Fiber based Transmission Backbone to enable a common connectivity platform for a Digital Bangladesh. This common infrastructure will use national resources optimally in the growing need of information technology and telecommunication sector including software development and data entry. Page 1

Mission: Building a neutral network allowing all Access Network Service (ANS) operators to provide their services through the network: to enable Nationwide affordable Value Added Services (VAS) platform for the end users. to reach all the Upazila headquarters with a Robust, Secured and Faster Transmission Backbone Network to enable connectivity to multiple Government and Non-Government entities. Corporate Information has been incorporated with Registrar of Joint Stock Companies [RJSC], Dhaka on March 19, 2008 having their registered office at House: 7/B, Road: 13, Gulshan-1, Dhaka-1212. License Domain of the Company has been granted with 3 major telecommunication Licenses: NTTN, ITC and IIG which ultimately covers both nationwide domestic transmission network and International Long Distance Connectivity. Fiber@Home: Holder of 3 Major Licenses Nationwide long distance (NLD) operator Nationwide Telecommunication Transmisison Network (NTTN) F@H International Long Distance (ILD) operator International Terrestrial Connectivity (ITC) International Internet Gateway (IIG) Scope of Licenses: Nationwide Telecommunication Transmission Network (NTTN): to separating Transmission Network services and Access Network services. International Terrestrial Cable (ITC): to increase international connectivity, bandwidth availability and redundancy of submarine cable connectivity. International Internet Gateway (IIG): to rout international incoming and outgoing internet based data traffic. The prime objectives of BTRC in favor of issuing NTTN service providing license is to separate the Access Network Service (ANS) providers from the Transmission Network Service (TNS) in view of developing a more secured, structured, cost effective and commonly sharable network for the country. The Objectives are hence quoted below as stated in the guideline: The license has been issued to develop, build, maintain and operate Nationwide Telecommunication Transmission Network (NTTN) for all the Telco and ANS operators. Page 3

Objectives of the NTTN License are to create Nationwide Telecommunication Transmission Networks with a view to separating Transmission Network Services and Access Network Services in future. At present the metropolitan cities and towns are cluttered with hazardous overhead optical fiber / cables and there are optical fiber / wired networks in the same area by the multiple ANS operators causing drainage to the national resources. Therefore, de-cluttering the city areas and towns, minimizing the wastage of national resources are also the objectives to create NTTN. Ownership Structure Legal Form: Public Ltd. Service Details & Features As an NTTN service provider, Fiber@Home is basically a provider of the providers, i.e. it serves the backbone communication transport needs of Access Network Service (ANS) providers, public agencies, and other institution as authorized by BTRC. ANS operators or providers are the licensees who can provide their service and solutions up to the end client i.e. corporate houses, SME clients, SOHO clients and individual consumers/ household clients. ANS operators typically provide voice, video, Internet, value-added service and corporate data services to its client base. Other than the ANS operators there are some other intermediary operators who provide certain gateway services for ANS operators as directed by the policy of BTRC. These intermediary organizations are also target customer of the NTTN, since they have substantial requirement of transport network capacity to deliver their intermediary functions. Types of Services Offered by F@H provides three types of services to the customer in term of connectivity, which are given below: Active Network Transmission 1. SDH 2. Metro Ethernet 3. Ethernet over MPLS Passive Transmission Service: 1. FTTX 2. Dark Core Fiber Leasing Collocation Facility 1. Collocation Space Sharing 2. Rack Sharing 3. Power Sharing Page 5

Service Attributes: Reliable Infrastructure - F@H is using Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) method to establish its cable network. This places the duct and the cables 4 to 5 meters below the ground. The utility providers of the country have their cables around 2 to 3 meters ground. So F@H s HDD method safely help in creating a secure and reliable cable network while reducing the costs of repairing the damages that would have otherwise been created in other forms of construction. All these cables are heavily armored for physical protection from damage, wear & tear and these cables are having an average life span more than 20 years. Better Redundancy - Protection path and redundancy is one of the most competitive advantage for the company over other competitors. The company has created its transmission network (SDH) complying Ring topology (multiple rings) to ensure maximum possible protection of the physical cable links and also deploying its data network using STAR -Mesh network design within metro cities. As a result the infrastructure taker from F@H gets better redundancy and failover options even if any portion of the backbone gets damaged. Providing maximum accessibility F@H has 300 fiber drop points per 100 krn which ensures that operators have greater flexibility to connect to the network at 300 different locations. In future this number may increase based on customer requirement Bandwidth leasing - Another option that F@H is giving to its customers is to lease bandwidth capacity (in terms of Megabit/Sec) instead of dark fiber. This not only opens up option for the operators/ service providers who cannot afford to lease out dark fiber but it also allows the current lease holders to increase the area of operations beyond 100krn without incurring the additional costs of renting more cables. Competitive pricing - A cost effective wholesale price has been provided to all the customers that ensured greater profitability for them. To be more specific the per meter charge of one core dark fiber leasing for an ISP is just Tk. 2 per month, a very low and competitive rate. Understanding the Customer Need F@H is committed to its present and potential customers to provide tailor made solutions. F@H incorporates customer involvement at the network designing stage which allows the operators to have solutions best suited to their needs. The company is implementing its network consulting continuously with the customers and industry experts so that each type of customers is being benefited by it. Page 7
