Ruby SuperSystem Bulletin Hardware & Software Support Services Bulletin NO: 08.00 Subject: Products: Publication Date: Author: Wayne Board All Wayne Ruby SuperSystem Installations Utilizing DCPT s January 22, 8 Dave Watlington Wayne and VeriFone have completed development and testing of an improved solution to interface the VeriFone Ruby SuperSystem POS with Wayne DCPTs/s and the MSM (for debit). The new solution, which is know as the Wayne Standard Interface Board, provides the following benefits: ¾ Replaces the B&B RS232/48 converter, providing superior protection against power spikes with onboard circuitry and manages signal loading on the communication lines. ¾ The standard I/F Board will be installed in the Wayne Electronic Central. This provides for a central point of connection for all Wayne equipment and follows standard wiring and connection practices used for all Wayne dispenser/ interfaces. ¾ Spreads the connections over four (4) RS48 channels, thus providing more robust communications and allowing the ability to isolate individual channels for troubleshooting and diagnostics. ¾ Supports a diagnostics port, which allows data monitoring and capture of data communication traffic, also provides ability for future enhancements such as direct command level diagnostics. ¾ Easy to view status indicators giving an "at a glance" status on data communication. Note: The B&B converter will no longer be required when using the Wayne board however, the following adapter from VeriFone is required to connect the RS232 interface cable to the board/electronic Central cabinet via the DB2F connector. Upgrade Kit A Upgrade Kit may be purchase from Wayne or individual parts as indicated below: PART NUMBER DESCRIPTION 882-00 Upgrade Kit Includes all necessary components 884288-00 PCB Assembly, 4 Channel Interface Board 802-002 Plate Assembly, Electronic Central Cabinet for Interfacing 882 Cable Assembly, Control Board to DB2F/Connector Plate 882-00 Documentation, Installation Instructions 88240-00 Cable Assembly, MSM, 30 Inch Used For Diagnostics Only! Note: Should be installed and left in the EC cabinet. The Upgrade Kit includes the I/F board, EC side plate replacement, interconnect cables, diagnostic cable, and documentation. The documentation covers installation and jumper settings for the VeriFone Ruby SuperSystem. Also, available is a combination kit that includes the PIB Installation Kit and the Installation Kit. Contact your local Wayne Distributor for details concerning this option. Ruby New base Application Requirements All boards that are installed with VeriFone Ruby SuperSystems utilizing its New base applications will NOT need to be re-jumpered (JP & JP2) for the RTS communications parameter. The default board configuration will suffice when installing with a Ruby SuperSystem Newbase applications. Note: New base applications may be identified by the presence of the Maintenance menu in the application while at the switcher mode. Ruby Old base Application Requirements All boards that are installed with VeriFone Ruby SuperSystems utilizing its Old base applications WILL need to be re-jumpered (JP & JP2) for the Auto enable communications parameter. Refer to the installation drawings in the following pages.
