The ELA Institute for Facility Maintenance Education Sponsored by About the Program: This program has been designed by industry educators and practitioners, associated with the Electric League of Arizona s education department and the Arizona Heat Pump Council. This session will be taught by the League s lead electrical instructor and the lead instructor for the Arizona Heat Pump Council education program. Steve Holmquist: Mr. Holmquist holds an L-11 commercial electrical contractor s license and is a registered maintenance supervisor for the City of Phoenix. He has managed building activities for a wide variety of production and building systems for Phoenix Newspapers, Inc. for over ten years. Mr. Holmquist has eighteen years experience in teaching electrical and electronic technology courses accredited with the community colleges. Richard Shaner: Mr. Shaner is President of Mech-Line Services, LLC, specializing in variable frequency drive automation and controls, including U.L. integration and factory service and training on 480V variable frequency drives of all designs. He has been instructing at Maricopa Community Colleges since 1996 and teaching factory level courses on troubleshooting, design and programming for a decade. Elmer Tepper: Mr. Tepper entered the electrical industry as an electrician and worked in this field for almost fifteen years. After receiving his BSEE degree, he worked in electrical engineering design and project management for a variety of industrial, commercial, and institutional facilities. After receiving his MS degree, he provided specialized consulting for many high tech projects. His most recent work had been developing and conducting training seminars and quality assurance programs. David Williams: Mr. Williams has been in the HVACR industry in Arizona for over thirty years. David s background includes both residential and commercial service. Mr. Williams has been instructing HVAC classes for over 22 years, including over 10 years with the Arizona Heat Pump Council. James Egan: Mr. Egan has over twenty years experience in the electrical industry. During those twenty years he has taught for North America Technical College, he owned his own electrical contracting business until he merged with a solar electrical distributor to specialize in urban and rural design. Ray Palmer: Mr. Palmer has twenty two years experience as an electrician in the United States Air Force. While stationed at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls he held the position of instructor supervisor and taught courses in Advanced troubleshooting, Cathodic Protection, Underground Distribution systems, Motors and Motor controls. He has earned a Bachelors degree in Occupational Education and an Associate in Applied Science degree in Instructor Technology and Military Science. He also holds an Associate degree in Mechanical and Electrical Technology. He has since retired from Luke AFB where he was the military electrical supervisor of the Electrical Systems shop. Daniel Turley: Mr. Turley has over 25 years experience in the commercial and residential electrical industry and currently works as a maintenance electrician. He has over 10 years of supervisory experience, including over 6 years as a Licensed Arizona electrical contractor, and has overseen large electrical installations. He is a certified Level 1 Thermographer. One of his current projects is to perform Arc Flash Studies on various buildings in the valley and to apply NFPA 70E to promote electrical safety in the work place. His expertise is in Commercial, Residential and Industrial electrical work but he has general knowledge and understanding of plumbing, HVAC, and maintenance procedures. He has long been interested in vocational education, completing a Master of Education degree in Educational Media and Computers. He has written several computer-based training programs. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from ASU. Jim Jackson: Mr. Jackson has over 30 thirty years in the electrical industry. He holds a master electrician s license. He spent 12 years working in an industrial factory as an electrical trouble shooter and facility electrician. He also worked in new construction as well as a service technician.
