Prisma GK: technology and innovation for an IP55 functional enclosure. Prisma GK is a comprehensive functional system for the production of electrical distribution switchboards designed for harsh environments. Sealed, sturdy, dismountable and combinable, it inherits all the functional features of the Prisma G system, to which new solutions, satisfying the requirements of industrial buildings, have been added.

Technology Prisma GK owes its architecture to Merlin Gerin s experience in the field of electrical distribution switchboards. Its dismountable structure enables the back of the enclosure to be equipped with maximum accessibility, while the horizontal and vertical combinations allow all switchboard sizes and configurations. Prisma GK s sealing quality is guaranteed by construction in all switchboard configurations. The columns with moving part are tightened to ensure panel sealing. Throughout the switchboard, gasket compression is controlled and independent from clamping forces. The IP55 degree of protection is certified conform to standard IEC 60529. The Prisma experience The Prisma GK wall mounted and floor standing enclosures are the summary of all the functional features of the Prisma G system. They thus benefit from all of its wiring routing and current distribution solutions, as well as from assembly and connection of the circuit protection and distribution switchgear. More solutions In order to meet industrial environment requirements, the functional system has acquired Telemecanique switchgear assembling and cabling solutions for control and monitoring: circuitbreakers, circuit-breaker/ contactor combinations, combined and progressive motor starters and contactors, LV/LV transformers. Prisma GK also proposes functional installation on the front panel of mounting plates fitted with ø22 indicator lights and actuators, industrial sockets or Telemecanique Tego Dial control and indication units. New membrane gland plates simplify guaranteed IP55 for cable insertion. These new components, just like the Prisma functional system as a whole, enable the production of tested switchboards according to international standard IEC 60439-1. Innovation Prisma GK s technological innovation is illustrated by the association in a single enclosure of dismounting and combination capacities, coupled with sturdiness and sealing. With Prisma GK, simplicity, ergonomics and flexibility, backed up by a flawless finish, are compatible with the quality requirements of industrial buildings.

Prisma GK: a giant know-how to meet the requirements of industry.

Maximum safety The Prisma GK switchboards guarantee complete operator safety, as no live parts can be accessed during operation. Differentiated management of switchgear access ensures operating safety: pushbuttons or selector switches can be fitted on the front panel of the switchboard, switchgear access doors can be equipped with varying closing combinations and plain or cut-out front plates are fitted in front of the switchgear in order to prevent direct contact. Personnel authorised to operate within the enclosure are protected from contact by the Prisma distribution blocks (xxb on the front panel). For installation protection purposes, IP55 insulates switchgear against harmful ingress of solids and liquids. The 7 type tests performed by the manufacturer, together with the 3 routine tests carried out by the installer, certify that Prisma GK is conform to standard IEC 60439-1. An upgradeable switchboard Prisma GK s modular design ensures extremely simple replacement or addition of functional units as well as simplification of cabling modifications simplified by using the Prisma distribution blocks. Designed with industrial environments in mind, Prisma GK enables electrical distribution applications to be grouped in the same switchboard with control, monitoring and indication devices. Prisma GK adapts to changes in its environment: horizontal and/or vertical extension units can be added to the existing Prisma GK switchboard. The installation structures can also be modified to adapt to the new swithcboard configuration or to a new site layout. Extremely sturdy Prisma GK, benefiting from IK 10, is designed to protect the installation against impacts. The doors are made in 15/10th thickness and the enclosures exhibit outstanding vibrating withstand. Partially damaged panels can be easily and cheaply replaced. Ergonomics and accessibility Prisma GK s dismountable architecture ensures extremely simple installation and connection of switchgear for the installer. The necessary space is provided for each functional unit. Partial pre-cutout doors allow installation of functional or plain mounting plates for the man/ switchboard interfaces and sockets. In order to simplify maintenance operations, a front panel marker system identifies the function installed in each enclosure. The front plates protecting access to the switchgear can be removed either partially or from the entire length of the enclosure. If necessary, the panels can also be removed when working in the switchboard.

Prisma GK: a giant know-how in user-friendliness

Ease of implementation The Prisma GK switchboard components are delivered separately in flat containers, thus making them easy to store, handle and carry. The switchboard is assembled flat on a table or against a wall, directly in the back of the enclosure with its panels removed. Total accessibility of the switchgear for installation, cabling and connection is thus guaranteed. The modular design of the Prisma functional system ensures all the space required for implementation of the devices. The enclosures are easy to combine with no need for gaskets. Sealing is guaranteed by construction. Site installation A set of components simplifies installation of the enclosure in the building: wall, floor or pole mounting. The structural components benefit from enclosure modularity and are functionally designed for direct fitting of the enclosures, without drilling. The resulting switchboard is thus standardised, sturdy and upgradeable, simplifying site installation. To ensure harmonious blending into the environment, a colour chart, grouping the colours most commonly used in industry, ensures prompt delivery of an enclosure with the site s colours. Limited number of references Following the same logic as Prisma G and GK and with the same capacities, Prisma GK uses the same equipment references for distribution: mounting plates for circuit-breakers and switches, standard slotted mounting plates, protective front plates or front plates dedicated fo specific measurement, control and indication devices, busbars at the back of the switchboard or in the duct, distribution blocks, terminal connections. The ducts have the same installation possibilities as Prisma G and GK: incoming unit, busbar, terminal connection, switchgear on slotted mounting plate. The only new references are the new enclosures and functional features that the Prisma G system has acquired. A design aid sofware A fully graphic simple tool lets you carry out a comprehensive switchboard installation study: you can now choose not only the necessary switchboard components, but also plan switchboard installation and create the front panel drawing. The result is a simple, rapid and reliable quote.
