Office 2003 Security Instructions MS Office 2003 adds additional security features that prevent LinkoCTS and LinkoFOG from working as expected. To prevent any conflicts or errors when using your Linko software, please make the following changes in Macro security. (For additional information and FAQ s on MS Access settings see: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access/ha011225981033.aspx ) Note: changes to these settings should not pose a threat to a secure network environment. Please confirm changes do not violate your internal IT policies. 1) MS Word and MS Access a) The settings in MS Word and MS Access take the same approach. Office 2007 Security Setup Instructions Microsoft has implemented the concept of Trust Centers for Access applications. This allows the user to create a folder structure and place databases within it that are Trusted. Databases placed in the trust center will not require the user to answer questions regarding the macro security. For backward compatibility Microsoft Office still has the ability for users to manually change macro settings. The following are two approaches to setting macro security for the Linko Data Systems application. It is recommended that the user set up trust centers for implementing macro security: TRUST CENTER 1) Option 1 (recommended) If this one is used do NOT use option 2 a) Install, and note the location of, the Linko Data Systems Workstation (typically this is C:\Linko_Software_SQL\LinkoCTS) b) Open Access 2007 i) Start Programs Microsoft Office Microsoft Office Access 2007 c) Select the Office Button d) Select Access Options Located in the lower right hand corner of the window Page 10 of 12
e) Select Trust Center Trust Center Settings Trusted Locations Add new Location. The following screen will appear: f) Enter a new path of where you have installed the Linko Data Systems application. For example if a typical install was completed the path would be C:\Linko_Software\LinkoCTS g) Next check that Subfolders of this location are also trusted h) Repeat steps 5 7 for the server files. i) Click OK to exit the screen j) Select OK to exit out of any remaining screens and then close Access 2007 2) Option 2 Only do this if you have skipped Option 1 a) Install the Linko Data Systems Workstation b) Open Access 2007 i) Start Programs Microsoft Office Microsoft Office Access 2007 c) Select the Office Button d) Select Access Options Located in the lower right hand corner of the window e) Select Trust Center Trust Center Settings Macro Settings. f) Select Enable all macros (not recommended; potentially dangerous code can run) g) Click OK to exit the screen h) Select OK to exit out of any remaining screens and then close Access 2007 1) MS Word and MS Excel a) Open Word/Excel 2007 (Open the application you want to set macro security for) i) Start Programs Microsoft Office Microsoft Office Word/Excel 2007 b) Select the Office Button c) Select Word/Excel Options Located in the lower right hand corner of the window d) Select Trust Center Trust Center Settings Macro Settings. e) Select Enable all macros (not recommended; potentially dangerous code can run) f) Click OK to exit the screen g) Select OK to exit out of any remaining screens and then close Word/Excel 2007 Page 12 of 12
