Polyvalent systems: the energy-saving evolution

Innovation is our DNA Over 15 years' experience Hundreds of systems built in the last 15 years with polyvalent units in residential and commercial buildings, office buildings, industrial complexes, hospitals, clinics and accommodation in general. Efficient technology EXP Systems allows a complete air conditioning system to be set up with domestic hot water production, thereby obtaining a double result with a single unit and one expense, and guaranteed high performance from the energy supplied by the compressor in terms of energy efficiency. The assurance of a quality product is obtained by means of thorough tests in the R&D Lab, one of the largest testing labs in Europe. Every Rhoss unit is subjected to rigorous operating tests before being launched on the market, simulating the most extreme operating conditions. EXP Systems is the polyvalent ecological system designed by RHOSS to satisfy cold and hot water demands simultaneously or independently with a single unit. It is designed for use in 2, 4 and 6-pipe systems, at any time of year. An entire range with air and water cooled from 5 to 800 kw with TER* index up to 8.33. The offer includes new Class A models with high ESEER efficiency with partial loads. Versatile system EXP Systems is a fourth-generation heat pump that produces hot and chilled water, combined or independently, for 4-pipe and 2-pipe systems with domestic hot water production. Reliable unit Thanks to its innovative control logic, EXP Systems meets the cooling and heating requirements by minimizing the stops and restarts of the compressor resulting in the beneficial effect on the duration of all the components of the cooling circuit. Flexible installation EXP Systems is adaptable for various system installation requirements thanks to its several configurations and accessories that make it plug and play. Ecological solution EXP Systems can be defined as a polyvalent environmentally friendly unit because it represents the efficient evolution of the electric heat pump, in line with the most stringent European directives. The high performance in the heat recovery mode further increases the difference compared to conventional installations, thereby reducing the direct and indirect emissions that contribute to the greenhouse effect. * TER Total Efficiency Ratio in total heat recovery mode AUTOMATIC 2.

Intelligent solution for real energy saving OFFICE OFFICE NORTH SOUTH EXP Systems is the intelligent solution to air conditioning requirements in systems where the heating demand is simultaneously or independently combined with a cooling request. The units adapt well to various types of systems, thereby guaranteeing unique efficiency and versatility. 80.000 70.000 60.000-25% Selecting the most suitable unit for your system is simple since there are 25 air-cooled models and 27 water-cooled models to choose from with scroll and screw technology with R410A and R134a gas respectively. /year 50.000 40.000 30.000 0 EXP CHILLER+BOILER Cost of electricity: 0.175 /kwh Cost of methane: 0.82 /Nmc Analysis carried out on a office building located in Milan, comparing the annual consumption of a polyvalent EXP Systems TXAVBZ 2550 unit at 550 kw with those of a conventional system consisting of a water chiller for summer/winter air conditioning and a boiler for heating.

EXP Systems is today's technology that guarantees the most efficient solution in combined operation of hot and chilled water production, and the TER index represents the best value that characterises it. TER, the ratio between the total heating and cooling capacity supplied and the power absorbed, reaches maximum values when loads are balanced. TER 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 90 80 70 60 Cooling capacity % 50 40 30 20 10 90 80 70 60 50 30 40 Heating capacity % 20 10 The graph highlights TER performance for a EXP Systems TXAETY 6520 unit in a standard 4-pipe system based on the requested load. Conditions of reference: cold water 7 C, hot water 45 C and outdoor air temperature 15 C. The units of the Y-PACK EXP, Y-FLOW EXP and WinPOWER EXP ranges, equipped with the revolutionary AF+ (Adaptive Function Plus), which is a Rhoss patent, allow the set point to be adapted according to the load of the system for additional energy savings. TER: Total Efficiency Ratio Actual efficiency measurement

EXP Systems units are designed to operate in 2, 4, and 6-pipe systems of the new range. This flexibility allows it to be used in several types of construction, thereby allowing any subsequent change in the intended use. The heart of the system is represented in the new electronic control and control logic designed by Rhoss to meet all the system requirements in 2 operating modes: AUTOMATIC and SELECT. 2-pipe systems AUTOMATIC or SELECT mode Often in residential cases, in homes with individual systems or apartment blocks with centralized systems, in hotels, nursing homes, gyms and accommodation structures in general, the air conditioning and air treatment requirements are accompanied by the need for domestic hot water production. When the EXP Systems is configured for 2-pipe systems, it performs this task with maximum flexibility throughout the year. WinPOWER EXP units also have the option to produce hot water up to 70 C in another heat exchanger in any operation mode. 4 or 6-pipe systems AUTOMATIC mode throughout the year In office buildings and the service sectors, the modern air conditioning systems increasingly require simultaneous production of hot and chilled water. Improved thermal insulation in structures, the increase in the heat loads due to the lighting and the presence of large windows, lead to the system having to cool certain areas while having to heat others during spring and autumn. In this case, when the EXP Systems is configured for 4-pipe systems, it represents a very convenient complete solution. WinPOWER EXP units also have the option to produce hot water up to 70 C in another heat in order to meet modern 6-pipe system requests.

EXP Systems: a wide range of products able to meet LEED credits Being a LEED oriented company means being constantly focused on development and creation of a range of products. It is a constant job and commitment is needed in order to guarantee quality products and high energy efficiency. Rhoss constantly carries out inhouse mapping and adjustment of its own range according to LEED specifications, developing products and systems that follow these specific directives. Commissioning Since it deals with commissioning a building, a single product is not directly involved. However, everything that can simplify commissioning operations on-site is important. The Witness Test carried out in a Eurovent approved laboratory enables CxA (Commissioning Authority) to verify and validate operation of the unit with a full and/or partial load before delivery and installation. These operations are not always easy to carry out on-site. A few examples of product ranges mapped in 2015 Y-Pack EXP WinPOWER EXP EXPsystems - Polyvalent ecological air-cooled system with axial fans. Minimum energy performance The unit complies with the compulsory minimum efficiency requirements, which are calculated according to standard ARI 550/590, reported in table 6.8.1C of Standard ASHRAE 90.1-2010, and can thus be used again in a project that intends to obtain a LEED certificate. Energy performance optimisation Energy optimisation concerns the building in its entirety, therefore, it is impossible to identify contribution in advance of a single unit in the overall calculation. However, units having performance features that are much better than the minimum set by the standard of reference can significantly contribute to reducing energy requirements of the building and thus get better points. Enhanced refrigerant management The unit individually meets the reference formula of LCGWP+LCODP*10^5<13, calculated by using the parameters of reference reported in the LEED BD+C guide and in the ASHRAE Handbook - Applications 2007. Please note that in order to obtain the credit points, the building must fulfil the formula in its entirely, combining and weighing the contributions of all units that contain more than 0.25 kg of refrigerant. Accessories Rhoss specific accessories and systems integration enable much better energy efficiency of products. KEY: WT Witness Test N.A. Not Applicable The unit meets the prerequisite criteria or credit/the accessory can help meet the prerequisite criteria or credit x The unit does not meet the prerequisite criteria or credit * Contact Rhoss spa for information regarding the precise match of individual models of the range.

Rhoss has analised the themes regarding the LEED standard and checked the credit requirements requested, comparing them with the characteristics of its own range of products and assessing which are able to meet the LEED credit requirements and in which way. With regard to a study of the technical features of Rhoss products, a conformity analysis was carried out in relation to the requirements of the LEED standards. Through this activity, Rhoss has acquired the necessary knowledge to meet LEED requirements and professionally discuss the themes with potential customers on an international level.
