SAFARI Montage Google Integration Instructions SAFARI Montage now offers Interoperability Support Services subscribers a powerful new integration option that links SAFARI Montage directly with Google, providing: Single Sign-On Access to SAFARI Montage via Sign in with Google Single Sign-On Access to Google Drive and Google Apps Federated search of Google Drive from within SAFARI Montage Direct upload of files from Google Drive in any of 50+ supported file formats plus Google Drive file formats Auto-conversion of Google App file formats to PDF or compatible MS Office formats Ability to save Google Drive search results as live web links, allowing continuing collaboration on shared Google files while accessing them through the SAFARI Montage LOR Video Overviews: Click here to view the Google Integration Overview Click here to view the Google Integration Setup for System Administrators video Requirements: SAFARI Montage v6.3 or greater SAFARI Montage Interoperability Support Services SAFARI Montage server(s), including all local school servers, must be registered with SAFARI Montage (Performed in advance by SAFARI Montage Technical Support for most districts) Single Sign-On Access via Sign in with Google requires that SAFARI Montage user email addresses match Google usernames Google Account NOTES: Google Drive and Apps integration can be enabled independently of Google SSO integration by administrators. Configuration Instructions: 1. Enable the Google Integration Service: a. Navigate to ADMIN > Interoperability Support > Services and click on the Activate link. b. Click on the Settings link. c. Enable or Disable Google Drive and Apps and Google SSO according to District preferences. Note: Client ID, Secret and Hostname are prepopulated and need not be modified in most cases. Ensure that the Hostname is populated with the fully qualified domain name used by all end users for internal and external access to SAFARI Montage. This is the hostname that SAFARI Montage Technical Support will register. If your environment includes local school servers, each server must be registered with SAFARI Montage Technical Support and configured locally with the fully qualified domain name used by all end users at the local school to access SAFARI Montage. d. 2. Configure Google Integration for each School: a. Once the Google Integration is activated, administrators can configure which Schools and User Types will be able to access the integration by clicking on the Schools link. b. Each School can be configured to enable or disable access to Google Drive and Google Apps, and to restrict which user types are allowed access to the integration. c. Click on Save for settings to take effect. Note: By default, Google Drive and Google Apps integration are enabled for Students and Teachers (and above). Copyright 2016 SAFARI Montage Page 3
Using Google with SAFARI Montage: Once the Google integration is configured, selected integration options will appear for users. Google SSO If enabled, the Sign in with Google button will be displayed on the SAFARI Montage log-in page. When signing in with Google or accessing any integration features for the first time, the user will be asked for permission to allow SAFARI Montage to view the user s email address and basic profile info, and to view and manage Google Drive files. Once the initial single sign-on association is completed, the user will be able to access the content in their Google Drive and Google Apps directly from SAFARI Montage via the dashboard links or federated search. Google Apps If enabled, the SAFARI Montage Quick Launch Panel will now display links to Google Calendar, Google Docs and Gmail for quick single sign-on access for configured users. Google Drive Portal Link If enabled, the SAFARI Montage Dashboard will now display a Google Drive portal link, allowing for quick access to Google Drive content for configured users. 1. Google Drive Search Tab If enabled, the SAFARI Montage search page will now display a Google Drive tab, allowing users to view federated results from each user s Google Drive content, which match the keyword entered by the user. Please note that the Google Drive federated search returns results are based only on the keyword entered, and does not use additional SAFARI Montage advanced search criteria. From the search results, users can preview and save Google Drive content to CreationStation as either a file or a web link. Users can also directly add Google Drive content to playlists and lessons. Notes: Adding Google Drive content to playlists and lessons from search results automatically saves the selected item as a file or a web link, depending on the user selection.
