Create an Account Creating a Google Analytics account is a simple but important step in the process of creating your stores. To start the process visit the Google Analytics homepage: http://www.google.com/analytics/ Look in the top right of the screen and located the "Create an Account" button. You'll need a Google Account to proceed, if you already have one from Google Mail, Webmaster Tools or another Google service simple enter it here and your account will gain analytics access too, if you don't have a Google Account already you'll need to create one, don't worry its free. Simply press "Sign Up" on the Google Account Page and fill in the form
Note: If you have created a new Google Account at this point you will need to verify it by clicking the link Google send you be email. You must complete this step to proceed. Setup Your Website in Analytics Go back to the Google Analytics website (https://www.google.com/analytics). You should now be asked to create your first account and be asked to choose through a number of options. What Would You Like to Track You need to select exactly what it is you're tracking, in this case we are tracking a website, make sure the left hand button is clicked/selected. Next you'll need to select a tracking method, while it's still in Beta mode the Universal Analytics option is the better of the two, ensure this is selected before proceeding
Next you'll need to setup your websites details. The table below gives you an idea on what you'll need to put in each box. For the Website Name box you can really enter anything you want, just something that will help you keep track of which website this is. For the Website URL box you'll need to enter the exact domain your website is located. This is the same domain you have selected in estorebuilder, to ensure you do not make any typing mistakes we recommend you copy and paste this into the box.
Be sure to check that you have not to paste the http:// part of the url, this is already there in the box to the right. For the Industry Category box you need to chose the most relevant category, for your sites this is likely to be either "Healthcare" or "Beauty and Fitness" depending on the direction of copy on your site. Finally the Reporting Time Zone box should be set to your local time so that you've got a good idea of when your strong and weak traffic periods are in local terms If this is the first profile you've made on analytics you'll also see the following section For Account Name you just need to place a descriptive name to hold all of your different website profiles (in case you create more). In this example you can see I have set it to "estorebuilder Websites" because we find it best to group my sites together. The tickboxes regarding data share with Google are a personal preference, we usually leave them ticked as providing Google with additional data allows them to improve their free service. Ultimately this is your choice. Once you've filled in all fields press the "Get Tracking ID" button. Depending on your region you may be presented with a Terms of Service Box, simple read and accept the Terms of Service as you would with any other online service
Getting # Your Tracking Code After creating your account you will be sent to the profile administration page which contains all the details and settings for your website. Your Tracking ID, sometimes referred to as your Web Property ID will be shown in the top right.
