Page 2 of 15 Introduction This license transfer guide will walk you step-by-step through the process of transferring a license from your machine that has a registered TOP Server OPC Server to another machine with an unregistered TOP Server OPC Server. This guide assumes the following: 1. You have TOP Server OPC Server installed and registered on one of your machines, henceforth referred to as the source machine. 2. You have an unregistered version of TOP Server OPC Server installed on your other machine, henceforth referred to as the target machine. 3. Each machine has a compatible form of removable media (i.e. each machine has a floppy diskette drive or each machine has a USB port and you have access to a USB Flash Drive.)
Page 3 of 15 Step 1: Target Machine 1. Run TOP Server on your destination machine. 2. Click HELP TRANSFER A DRIVER OR PLUG-IN LICENSE. 3. If you have an.opf file open and running, you will asked to close this file before continuing. 4. You will need to click YES to close the open project to proceed. 5. Now the following dialog box will appear:
Page 4 of 15 6. If all of these requirements are met, click NEXT. 7. Upon reviewing the terms of the Licensing Agreement, click the I ACCEPT THE TERMS OF THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT radio button and click NEXT. 8. You will be presented with the following dialog box:
Page 5 of 15 9. Now you will use the drop down menu to select the driver for which you want to transfer the license. For this example, we will be using the AB Suite. 10. Now click NEXT, which displays the following dialog box:
Page 6 of 15 11. If you will be using a floppy diskette for the license transfer, you would now insert a disk into your floppy drive and choose A: as the drive location. 12. If you will be using a USB flash drive for the license transfer, you would now plug your flash drive into an available USB port on your machine and choose the drive location corresponding to the flash drive as the drive location. 13. After choosing your drive, click PREPARE. 14. Upon successful preparation of the disk, click NEXT.
Page 7 of 15 15. You will be presented with the following dialog box: 16. Now you can remove your floppy diskette or USB flash drive and take it to your source machine.
Page 8 of 15 Step 2: Source Machine 1. With TOP Server running on the source machine, click HELP TRANSFER A DRIVER OR PLUG-IN LICENSE. 2. Again, if you have an open.opf file, you will be prompted to close this project before continuing. 3. You will need to click YES to close the open project to proceed.
Page 9 of 15 4. Now the following dialog box will appear again: 5. Click NEXT here, and select I ACCEPT under the License Agreement again, then click NEXT.
Page 10 of 15 6. You will be presented with the following dialog box: 7. Leave SOURCE SYSTEM selected, since this is the machine with the licensed version of TOP Server. 8. Verify that the selected license being transferred is the same as the driver we selected on the target machine, in this example the AB SUITE. 9. Click NEXT here and click NEXT again on the subsequent dialog box, which is simply prompting you to prepare your disk at the Target Machine. 10. You would now insert your floppy diskette or USB drive from the target machine into the appropriate slot.
Page 11 of 15 11. If your drive is not listed in the drop down menu, click REFRESH and choose your drive, then click TRANSFER. 12. Once your license is successfully transferred to the disk, you can click NEXT at the next dialog box and click FINISH at the final dialog box. 13. You are now ready to take your floppy disk or USB drive back to your Target Machine.
Page 12 of 15 Step 3: Target Machine, Revisited 1. Reinsert your floppy disk or USB drive into your target machine. 2. Click NEXT and you will be presented with the following dialog box: 3. If using a floppy diskette, choose A: from the Drive Location drop down menu. If using a USB drive, choose F: from the Drive Location drop down menu.
Page 13 of 15 4. If the drive you are using is not present in the drop down, click REFRESH, then make your drive selection. 5. You can now click TRANSFER. 6. Upon successful transfer, the following dialog box will appear.
Page 14 of 15 7. Click NEXT. 8. You have now successfully transferred your TOP Server OPC Server license from one machine to another. 9. Click FINISH and restart TOP Server to resume operations.
