Why Johnson & Wales university? Why are so many students choosing? JWU offers a unique educational experience, which includes Career-oriented degree programs, all including real-life work experience A curriculum that gets you started in your major right away in your freshman year Hands-on learning, from industry-experienced faculty Plenty of study abroad programs, from Switzerland to Singapore to Scotland Dozens of on-campus clubs and athletic opportunities Four exciting campuses to choose from, in great U.S. cities: Providence, R.I.; North Miami, Fla.; Denver, Colo.; and Charlotte, N.C. EEP for High School Juniors If you re a high school junior with your mind set on college and your heart set on a career, the Early Enrollment Program (EEP) at can give you a head start on your plans. What is EEP? The Early Enrollment Program (EEP) for high school juniors allows you to get started on college a year early. You can earn both high school and college credits at the same time, while still participating in your high school activities. Why should I consider EEP? Graduate earlier. As an EEP student, you ll graduate one full year earlier than your peers and get started on your career sooner. Tremendous savings. Through EEP, your tuition cost for your first year will be half the regular JWU tuition cost. Plus you ll be eligible for JWU scholarships totaling up to 50 percent of any institutional aid you receive. Enjoy the best of both worlds. You ll still be able to take part in high school activities and attend graduation with your class. Plus, you ll enjoy all the benefits of being a JWU student. You ll take college classes and have the opportunity to participate in JWU student activities. You ll also be eligible to live in one of our residence halls. Experience exciting fields such as marketing, criminal justice, fashion merchandising, advertising and entrepreneurship in the COLLEGE OF BUSINESS. I wanted to get a head start, so I came in as an EEP student. And I knew I wanted to study business, so I picked JWU because of its great reputation as a business school. As a finance major, I was exposed to the real world of banking and the fast-paced stock market system. That s something I wouldn t have gotten at most colleges. Michelle Mathewson 08 2 Financial Services Management 3

Fields of Study focuses on providing you with the necessary skills to help you achieve your career goals. You ll graduate from college with experience on your résumé, gained through hands-on training and internships. College of Business Do you have visions of a future as a high-level CEO or a buyer for a major fashion retailer? Maybe you want to work in law enforcement or build a career in risk management, or even start a business of your own. The College of Business at Johnson & Wales can provide you with the skills to help those visions become a reality and make you a strong player in the global market. College of Culinary Arts Work as a nutritionist for a health spa, run your own restaurant or become a personal chef. JWU is the world s leading food service educator, offering you hands-on training at university-owned facilities or at internships off campus. From celebrity chefs like JWU alum Tyler Florence to personal chefs for athletes, graduates of our College of Culinary Arts are in some of the world s most celebrated kitchens. The Hospitality College Manage a posh hotel. Plan and direct events for a resort spa in the tropics. Give direction backstage at concerts. Handle press relations for a sports team. You can take advantage of the need for educated managers in the lodging, food service and events industries. According to Forbes magazine, hospitality is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world, and at JWU, you ll receive the education and experience that can help you get your career started. School of Technology (Providence Campus only) Design interactive graphics for the Web. Engineer design concepts for product manufacturers. Develop software to help businesses streamline their processes. Through the School of Technology, you ll get hands-on training and opportunities to network within the industry to build the career you want. School of Arts & Sciences (Providence Campus only) Prepare for a career in addictions counseling, mental health counseling, or career and school counseling through our unique Counseling Psychology program. You ll get the theoretical education and experiential-based training as an undergraduate by interning with community action programs and nonprofit agencies that provide counseling services. Our world-renowned COLLEGE OF CULINARY ARTS was the first to offer a bachelor s degree in Culinary Nutrition. THE HOSPITALITY COLLEGE at Johnson & Wales University will introduce you to a variety of careers in food, hotel, restaurant, event and tourism management. I was attracted to the EEP program because I was ready to become a college student. I needed very few credits to complete my senior year, and I felt as though I would be wasting my time if I stayed. When I began classes at Johnson & Wales, I felt like I was in more control of my life than I did in high school. Coming to school early was one of the best decisions I ever made. I hope more students will have the same opportunity. I had no doubt that the EEP program was the right thing for me. I was ready for the college life. The university was great about arranging my schedule so that I could still be involved with high school activities and the college ones as well. When my age group came in as freshmen, I d already completed a year of college. I strongly recommend the EEP program to any student. Am I a candidate for EEP? You may be a good candidate for EEP if You re a high school junior entering your senior year. You want to get a head start on college. You re a United States citizen. What are the academic qualifications for EEP? To qualify for EEP, you need to have A minimum 2.75 GPA (B-) and a B- in English. A minimal number of high school classes left in order to meet graduation requirements. (For example, you might just have one English class and one or two other classes left to go in order to graduate.) Requirements and equivalent JWU courses will be determined by your high school counselor and the JWU EEP director. Start the EEP process now! To participate in EEP, you must do the following during your junior year: 1. Submit an Early Enrollment Application indicating your program choice along with one EEP agreement completed by your guidance counselor and principal, and a high school transcript. 2. School of Technology: Learn about the rapidly growing field of technology through a site visit to a leading manufacturer of high-tech equipment, and spend time in our career-specific computer labs. By developing my own website, I was able to show potential employers all of my credentials, reference letters and my résumé very quickly and professionally. Employers certainly were impressed, and when I saw their reaction to my website, I knew that all of the effort and time put into development had been worth it. Matthew J.
