Provide as much detail as possible. This list is to assist others in understanding the nature and scope of the position. Examples: 1. Provide medical care to all categories of patients of the xxxxx Hospital or Multi Purpose Service (MPS) to which they will be appointed, including nursing home residents, aged care nursing home-type patients, acute inpatients and patients attending the Emergency Department of the xxxxxxxx Hospital. 2. Provide whole person, comprehensive, coordinated and continued medical care for individuals, families and communities through the xxxxxxx private medical practice. 3. Undertake research activities 4. Supervise, manage and / or educate junior medical staff, medical trainees and / or other staff as appropriate. 5. Other responsibilities Comply with legislative, policy/protocol requirements as they relate to: The supervision requirements as set out by the Medical Board of Australia (MBA); The Area Health Service s Performance Management Policy; Occupational, health and safety requirements as an employee; and The Area Health Service s Code of Conduct. 6. Consult, liaise and / or partner with other key positions, committees, organisations or groups from within and external to the organisation e.g., to provide information about.., to represent the Practice / Department / Unit on., etc. 7. POSITION REQUIREMENTS This section should indicate the knowledge, skills and experience which are essential to ensure the applicant can competently and effectively perform the above duties. Make specific reference to the following core competency standards: 1. Qualifications Specify the qualifications, including postgraduate training. 2. Clinical Describe the skills, knowledge and experience, for the full range of clinical situations, population groups (including children), and technical procedures that the doctor is required to have. For example: a) Basic life support skills; or b) Advanced life support skills. 3. Supervision Indicate the previous experience that this doctor should have with relation to supervision of others. 4. Research and Teaching Identify the previous experience that this doctor should have with relation to research and teaching. LOCAL BACKGROUND AND ENVIRONMENT This section intends to provide the wider context where the position is located. It will assist all parties concerned (i.e., employer, applicant, WA Health, Colleges and MBA), in gaining a clearer understanding of the overall context of the position. Include a general description of any hospital facilities that may be used by the practice in which the position is located (i.e., rural, urban, number of beds and the general range of medical services provided. Indicate the facilities available and the site of such facilities, such as: Radiology / Radiography indicate what reporting services are available on site and what the hours of service are for each. Also indicate what off site imaging services, if any, must be used and what their availability is. Pathology / technician indicate what reporting service is available on site and what the hours of service are for each. Hospital facilities including VMPs, consultants fields of expertise (i.e., the spectrum of work undertaken at the hospital, consultants available locally or visiting, even if not directly related to the identified position). SUPERVISION ARRANGEMENTS OF THE POSITION Provide the following information regarding supervision requirements of the position in normal hours: Immediate (i.e., a colleague present at all times in the same practice); A colleague working in the same practice but not present at all times; Within the precincts of the local district; Within an hour s travel by road; or By telephone. Examples might include patient demands, workload, competing priorities, isolation, etc. DECISION MAKING Identify the kinds of decisions that the doctor should make him/herself, without referral to a supervisor. Indicate whether there are policies/guidelines/rules to guide the doctor in the decision-making process.
