SIP IP Phone Models 9000i and 6700i Series Phones Release Notes 3.2.1 Before you upgrade Please read before upgrading your phone Note: The following information applies to all IP phones EXCEPT the 6739i. If you have a firmware version on your phone prior to 2.3, please read the following IMPORTANT information before upgrading the phones: LLDP is enabled by default If LLDP is enabled on your network, the phones may come up with different network settings. For more information about LLDP, see the Aastra Models 9000i and 6700i Series SIP IP Phones Administrator Guide. Support for DHCP Options 159 and 160 If the DHCP server supplies Options 159 and 160, the phones will attempt to contact the configuration server given in these options. For more information about Options 159 and 160, see the Aastra Models 9000i and 6700i Series SIP IP Phones Administrator Guide. HTTPS validation If you are using HTTPS and the certificates are not valid or are not signed by Verisign, Thawte, or GeoTrust, the phones fail to download configuration files. For more information about HTTPS validation, see the Aastra Models 9000i and 6700i Series SIP IP Phones Administrator Guide. WatchDog task feature If the phone detects a failure (for example, a crash), the phone automatically reboots. For more information about the WatchDog feature, see the Aastra Models 9000i and 6700i Series SIP IP Phones Administrator Guide. Note: If you factory default a phone with Release 2.3 and above software, when the phone reboots, it attempts to connect to rcs.aastra.com. There is no personal information transmitted from the phone and the phone continues to boot up as normal. Warning: Applicable to IP Phone Models 6730i and 6731i only: The default negotiation setting for the Ethernet ports on the phones is auto-negotiation. If you have changed this default setting to another value (i.e., Half Duplex or Full Duplex), you MUST set the negotiation value back to the default value of autonegotiation before upgrading to Release 3.2. Failure to do so may cause the phone to fail to connect to the network. In addition, downgrade will not be possible. 4 RN-001037-02 REV02 03.2011

Issues Resolved in Release 3.2.1 Issues Resolved in Release 3.2.1 This section describes the issues resolved on the IP Phones in Release 3.2.1 The following table provides the issue number and a brief description of each fix. Note: Unless specifically indicated, these resolved issues apply to all phone models. Issues Resolved Issue Number Description of Fix Configuration DEF22113 DEF22688 DEF22690 When the user configured a softkey with the phone lock function from the Web UI, the key did not lock the phone when the user pressed it. Now the phone lock softkey works as expected. The keypad speed dials failed to work when configured for any line other than Line 1. Now the keypad speed dial works if configured to call from any line. During bootup process, a branded phone was showing the branding splash logo only during the first few seconds before incorrectly switching to the Aastra splash logo. Now the phone correctly keeps showing the branding splash logo during the bootup process. SIP DEF23268 DEF22539 DEF23192 DEF23452 DEF23371 If a user was hosting a local conference on any line other than Line 1 (e.g. Line 5), and they dropped the first leg of the conference, the UI focus was incorrectly switching to Line 1. Now the UI focus correctly stays on the line with the remaining active call. With outbound proxy configured on the phone, when a user finished a call, the PUBLISH packet was still going to the collector instead of the outbound proxy. Now the PUBLISH message is sent to the outbound proxy when it is configured on the phone. During a consultative transfer when a user is in a call with the transfer target (transferee is on hold), if the user presses Line 2, the Goodbye key, and then presses Line 1, the phone display showed the consultation call as an active call with no audio, instead of being on hold. The phone should show both calls (call to transferee and the consultation call) on hold. When the user makes an attended transfer, they are not able to select the target using a BLF/xfer key. Now when the user is on a call and presses the BLF/xfer key, the phone will complete the transfer. After pairing is done between a CT handset and CT base, the intercom function didn't work. Now the phone can intercom with the base and other registered handsets. RN-001037-02 REV02 03.2011 7

Issues Resolved in Release 3.2.1 Issue Number DEF23510 DEF23206 DEF23504 DEF23049 DEF23589 DEF23521 DEF23050 Description of Fix The CT handset was not passing the DTMF digits to the base station, however a user could dial DTMF digits from the base station. Now the CT handset can pass DTMF digits. When the phone received early media (180+SDP), then 180 with no RTP packets, the phone didn t ring and didn t process the 180 message. Now the phone successfully switches from early media to local ringing. During an attended transfer, if the cursor was moved up to the first line drop was shown although the key has no action. Now the phone checks the status of the lines during a transfer and displays the appropriate drop or pickup softkey. In a timeout condition, current context was shut down and new context was created, causing each regular as-feature-event subscription to use a new caller ID. Now new context (i.e., a new caller ID) will be created only when it is not a timeout condition. 6739i: The phone would restart if a user pressed the Services hard key and then the Goodbye key, and if they pressed the Directory or Callers hard key, selected any directory item and then dialed out. Phones were not able to handle tel URI in the From header. This issue is now fixed. When switching from the primary server to the backup server, the subscription was terminated by the server and then the phone stopped sending SUB- SCRIBE messages for the as-feature-sync event. Now this works correctly and the phone sends the SUBSCRIBE message after a failover. User interface DEF22925 DEF23010 In the Options and Services menus, a numbering index incorrectly appeared beside sub menu labels (e.g. Call Options > Call Forward >1Cfwd Mode: All, Busy, No Answer ). The numbering index now appears beside the various modes the user can select (e.g. Options > Call Forward > Cfwd mode: 1. All, 2. Busy, 3. No Answer ). 6739i: The phone failed to bring up the speed dial configuration screen when a user presses and holds a keypad key. DEF22840 6731i/6730i: When a user presses any number on the keypad and then the # key, Line 1 would pick up and dial out. Now the # key checks the dial plan and doesn't automatically dial out. DEF23343 DEF22056 DEF22763 The phone restarted when a user deleted an phone book entry from the directory. Now the phone deletes phone book entries properly. The phone UI was missing the option to configure the backlight under Options > Preferences >Display > Backlight. Now users can configure the backlight using the phone UI. The phone s top LED (message waiting lamp) continued to flash after a remote phone cancelled two incoming calls. Now when a phone receives two incoming calls, and the calls are cancelled by a remote phone, the top LED will stop flashing. 8 RN-001037-02 REV02 03.2011

Issues Resolved in Release 3.2.1 Issue Number DEF22920 DEF23135 DEF22607 DEF23585 Description of Fix 9480i: When a user pressed the Redial then the Goodbye button, the phone showed extra dash lines on the screen in the softkey section for a few seconds before disappearing. After the user edits the callers list, a blinking cursor appeared on the idle screen. Now the cursor clears after editing an item. When the phone was in the Secure Real-Time Transfer Protocol (SRTP) mode, a loud noise was heard after answering a SRTP call. When the user tried to transfer a call to an invalid number, the Transfer Failed message was not shown on the screen. Now the Transfer Failed message is displayed on the screen. XML DEF23292 DEF23386 DEF23352 DEF21623 DEF23548 ENH23615 When an XML AastraIPPhoneStatus object with a long message was displayed, the message was shown on three lines that expand over the border of the box. When the AastraIPPhoneInputScreen object is set to the condensed mode, the text is not aligned properly when the phone UI is in French or German. Now there are no alignment problems for any language when the input screen mode is set to the condensed mode. 6739i: When a user pressed a softkey of an XML ImageScreen object with autorefresh, the phone would restart. Using XML, administrators could not set the LED to turn on or flash for a key on the expansion models. Only the first key (Key 1) on the expansion models could be turned on. Now administrators can use XML to turn on the LED for any key on the expansion models. The Action URI was not triggered when the user pressed the Goodbye key while playing a WAV file, causing the WAV file to stop streaming. Now the Action URI is triggered when a user presses a key while playing a WAV file. The inputlanguage tag is now supported in the AastraIPPhoneInputScreen XML object. RN-001037-02 REV02 03.2011 9
