Cognos 8 Go! Mobile BlackBerry 'Pull' Install 4 1 Introduction 1.1 Purpose This document contains the steps required for a BlackBerry user to install the Cognos 8 Go! Mobile client on their mobile device. 1.2 Exclusions and Exceptions This document does not include information on performing a Push installation of the client by a BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) administrator. For information on Push installs, see the document http://support.cognos.com/supported/tti/public/docs/cognos_pp_infrastructur e_pushing_the_cognos_8_go_to_blackberry_devices.pdf 2 Performing the install To perform an over-the-air (OTA) install of the Mobile client on a BlackBerry mobile device you must open the client download page in the devices browser. To be sure that the page is accessible, first open the page in a regular Browser on your desktop. The URL is http://<c8_server>/<c8_alias>/mobile/index.html. You should see a page as below:

Cognos 8 Go! Mobile BlackBerry 'Pull' Install 5 To download the Mobile client, you need to access the same page from the Blackberry device. To do this, go to the home screen and select the BlackBerry Browser application. Note: Depending on the model, version and wireless provider you may have slightly different options to the screenshots in this document. Select the Go To option and enter the http://<c8_server>/<c8_alias>/mobile/index.html url as tested above:

Cognos 8 Go! Mobile BlackBerry 'Pull' Install 6 The resultant page has the links for the Mobile client, scroll down until the one appropriate for the device you are using is highlighted. Click on it and select Get Link: The client information will be shown select and click the Download button and wait for the download to complete:

Cognos 8 Go! Mobile BlackBerry 'Pull' Install 7 When it s done, select the Run option: At this point the Blackberry security software may ask Do you want to allow the application Cognos 8 Go! Mobile to act as a Server?. This is a mechanism to ensure that the Blackberry user knows that the software installed needs network connectivity. Under Don t ask this again for: Tick the option all http connections and select the Allow this connection button so you won t be prompted in the future. You will be taken to the welcome screen for Cognos 8 Go! Mobile:

Cognos 8 Go! Mobile BlackBerry 'Pull' Install 8 Select the Log On option and enter the full URL of your Cognos 8 gateway: http://<c8_server>/<c8_alias>/cgi-bin/cognos.cgi and select Connect. If this is entered correctly, you will be taken to the Inbox screen: Cognos 8 Go! Mobile is now installed and you can start browsing and running reports.
