Installation and Licensing Information Synopsys Common Licensing version 11.8 is a standalone release. You must install this release in an empty directory by using the latest version of the Synopsys Installer. Do not install this release over an existing release of a Synopsys tool. SCL version 11.8 includes all the bug fixes available in SCL version 11.8 and earlier. For UNIX s, you should use the Synopsys Installer to install the SCL software. For SCL configuration and startup instructions, see Starting the SCL Server on UNIX and Windows Systems in the Synopsys Common LIcensing Administration Guide, which is available at the following address: http://www.synopsys.com/licensing To download SCL via Electronic Software Transfer, download the scl_v11.8_common.tar file and the -specific tar file that you need. For example, for the x86_64 you should download the scl_v11.8_common.tar file, and either the scl_v11.8_amd64.tar file () or the scl_v11.8_linux.tar file (). The Synopsys Installer defaults to the following root directory: /usr/synopsys/scl/11.8. Under this root directory are additional directories, such as /usr/synopsys/scl/11.8/amd64/bin/snpslmd For the Windows, the default install directory is C:\Synopsys\SCL\11.8. After installation, the path to the executable looks like this: C:\Synopsys\SCL\11.8\win32\snpslmd.exe. Synopsys also provides various dongle drivers for Windows and Linux that are required when you use a dongle as a license server. Drivers for the Windows s are included in this directory: C:\Synopsys\SCL\11.8\win32\drivers. Drivers for Linux are included in the synopsys_root//drivers directory. For example, /usr/synopsys/11.8/linux/drivers. New Features, Enhancements, and Changes Synopsys Common Licensing version 11.8 provides the following new features, enhancements, and changes: Support for the perflmd License Daemon Combined Vendor Daemons Combined Vendor Daemon Operating System Support Installation and Licensing Information 2
Platform Support Changes Resolved Issues in FLEXnet Version 11.12.1 and Previous Versions Known Issues in FLEXnet Version 11.12.1 and Previous Versions Support for the perflmd License Daemon Synopsys Common Licensing version 11.8 is based on FLEXnet version 11.12.1, the standard licensing software provided by Flexera Software. The perflmd license daemon is incorporated into SCL version 11.8. This legacy license daemon can now be used within sclsh in version 11.8. For example, % setenv SCL_ENABLE_BRIDGE 1 % sclsh % sclsh> perflmd init % sclsh> perflmd co <Feature_name> For help on sclsh, type help at the sclsh prompt to see all the commands supported by sclsh: % sclsh > help For more help on a specific command, use the following option: % sclsh > <command_name> -help Combined Vendor Daemons Table 1 shows the complete list of legacy vendor daemons incorporated into SCL version 11.8. Before starting SCL, these daemon processes must be shut down. Table 1 Legacy Daemons Incorporated Into SCL Version 11.8 Acquired Company Analog Design Automation Avant! Table 5 Platform Support Changes (Continued) computer keyword Previous support Platform support in the June 2014 release IBM RS6000 AIX (aix64) AIX 6.1 AIX 6.1 Resolved Issues in FLEXnet Version 11.12.1 and Previous Versions The following issues are resolved in FLEXnet version 11.12.1 and previous versions: Detecting the teamed interface Previously, the teamed interface was not detected on Windows Server 2012. The teamed NIC interface is now identified on Windows and its MAC address displays. (IOC-000089901) FLEXID9 Hasp4 Dongles were not being recognized on Windows clients FLEXID9 Hasp4 dongles were not recognized on Windows clients in remote desktop environments in version 11.12.0. This is now resolved and the FLEXID9 Hasp4 dongles are recognized by the Windows clients in version 11.12.1. (IOB-000063269) No error message is displayed when FLEXID9 is connected to three servers Previously, a dongle not connected error message displayed in the server log when using FLEXID9 in a three server setup. This issue is resolved and no error message displays. (IOA-000059836) Queuing of reserved licenses Previously, when a checkout request for a reserved license was queued, it continued to be in queue even after the checkout license was returned to the server. This behavior occurred when the SUITE_DUP_GROUP option was set. This issue is now resolved. (IOC-000090157) Misleading denied message in server log License servers using license files with package and an ethernet-based hostid on the SERVER line generated a misleading message in the server log. When a client checked out a package feature, the message indicated the check out is denied when it actually succeeded. This issue is now resolved. (IOA-000081297) New Features, Enhancements, and Changes 11
lmstat license count Previously, lmstat reported an invalid license count when two license files contained the same feature names. lmstat now displays the correct license count based on the actual number of pools. (IOA-000076653 and IOC-000089951) Displaying lmstat RESERVATION messages Previously, lmstat did not display RESERVATION information when OPTIONS=SUITE_RESERVED was used in the license file. This is now resolved. (IOA-000042230) Known Issues in FLEXnet Version 11.12.1 and Previous Versions The following are known issues in FLEXnet version 11.12.1 and other FLEXnet releases. Freeing a job does not always remove the SUITE RESERVED reservation When a client application using a SUITE_RESERVED license exits by freeing the job handle without checking in all its licenses, this might result in the licenses remaining reserved. (IOA-000042230) IPv4 lmstat unable to obtain information for server with OPv6 address in license file When the value for the SERVER line in a license file is an IPv6 address, IPv4 lmstat cannot retrieve statistics. Similar issues can occur with other lmutil utilities.
