15 Shortlisted Candidates 2016 Prix Levallois Opening of online vote for Audience Award The team of Prix Levallois is pleased to present you the 15 shortlisted candidates of the 2016 edition. Prix Levallois received this year 703 applications from 69 countries, an increase of 33 % from 2015 (from 520 applications to 703). The age of participants is from 19 years old to 35 years old. Online vote for the Audience Award is open from 13 May to 10 June 2016. After the Jury meeting in June, the Laureate, the Special Mention and Audience Award will be announced at Arles during International Photography Festival, the 6th of July at l Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie (Photography School), in the presence of the Jury. The 15 shortlisted candidates, was chosen among 703 applications by Fannie Escoulen, Artistic Director and Anna Planas, general coordinator. The selection aims to present a state of the contemporary photography, through documentary and intimate writings, and through more formal and plastic research. The geographic distribution of applications shows a growing interest from international photographers with 69 countries represented. 11 countries represent 70 % of the applications : France, Belgium, Italy, United States, Russia, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, Poland, Switzerland and Iran. 2 / 21

Prix Levallois Historic Launched in 2008, the Levallois Prize upholds its commitment to support contemporary photography. In 2015, the Levallois town council has chosen a new direction to lead the prize. Fannie Escoulen, a talented independent curator, impulse a new energy to this unique prize. Three prizes for under 35 new talents Open to all forms of photographic expressions, the international Prize welcomes submissions from young photographers aged under 35. The winner of the Prize receives a grant of 10,000 Euros and a two-month long exhibition at the Galerie de L Escale in Levallois (France), in October-November 2015). The amount of the grant makes it one of the best-endowed international awards in favour of emerging photographers. Whether in narrative, aesthetic, technical or formal terms, the Levallois Prize wishes to highlight young photographers creative research through its selection. The prize also rewards a new talent with a Mention Special Prize witch will be also exhibited in fall. In 2015, an Audience Award has been introduced to allow active involvement of the public too often excluded from this kind of event. Relayed by social media and our partners, the vote is open to all and organized trough the digital platform out of the selection of the fifteen shortlisted candidates. The Audience Award will be exhibited with the Levallois Prize laureate and the Special Mention at the Galerie de L Escale in Levallois in the fall and will receive a digital camera from our partner, Olympus. An international Jury The Jury for the Levallois Prize and the Special Mention will comprise French and International personalities from the world of the image in related fields, including publishers, gallery owners, curators, or again critics.
