SiNAPSE will provide excellent resources and work conditions (an environment of about 20 collaborators and PIs), with opportunities to collaborate with investigators at the Johns Hopkins University and the National Cancer Institute. Salaries will be internationally competitive and commensurate with experience. Health insurance, as well as travel to international conferences, will be provided. Positions available in Optogenetic Neuroengineering Molecular Neuroengineering Neuro-Chip and Cellular Neuroengineering Neuromorphic Engineering Neuroprostheis and Brain Machine Interface Clinical Neuroengineering Cognitive Neuroengineering Innovations Incubator and Entrepreneurship Title: Positions in Optogenetics Neuroengineering The Optogenetic Neuroengineering Lab of the SiNAPSE Institute, led by Dr. Nitish Thakor and Gavin Dawe, is recruiting esearch scientist and post-doctoral fellows to a) develop novel technologies for delivering optogenetic probes, b) stimulation and recording, and c) conducting behavioral experiments as well as translational research in the areas of plasticity after peripheral and spinal injury, Parkinson s disease, and pain. Highly talented and motivated graduate students or candidates with a doctorate degree in the biological sciences, bioengineering, and advanced optical or electronic circuits and instrumentation are encouraged to apply. Candidates in their own focus areas (whether molecular biology or systems physiology or instrumentation development). career goals to Dr Nitish Thakor (Sinapsejobs@gmail.com)

Title: Positions in Molecular Neuroengineering The Molecular Neuroengineering Lab of the SiNAPSE Institute, led by Dr. Yien Che Tsai, is recruiting a research scientist and two post-doctoral fellows to study molecular mechanisms in neurological diseases and cancer. Research projects will develop cutting-edge optogenetics, nanotechnology, genomics and proteomics approaches and animal models to understand the mechanisms of disease. Highly talented and motivated candidates with a doctorate degree in the biological sciences are encouraged to apply. Candidates should be enthusiastic to work in a multidisciplinary research environment, skilled in molecular biology, cell biology, and advanced microscopy techniques. Experience in stem cell biology or animal models is a plus. career goals to Dr. Yien Che Tsai (tsaiyc88@gmail.com). Title: Positions in Neuro-Chip and Cellular Neuroengineering The Neuro-Chip and Cellular Neuroengineering division of the SiNAPSE, led by Dr. Yang and Dr. Lee, is recruiting is recruiting several research scientists and post-doctoral fellows to study cellular mechanism of neurological diseases including demyelinating diseases and axonal injuries using Neuro-Chip tools at the National University of Singapore and Johns Hopkins University. Research projects will develop the cellular model of nerve degeneration and regeneration, cutting-edge Neuro-Chips, electrical stimulation, biomaterials, Chip-seq analysis, and animal models to understand the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases. Highly talented and motivated candidates with a doctorate degree in the Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Microfluidic Device, Nano/Biomaterials, and Cell Biology are encouraged to apply. career goals to Dr. In Hong Yang (iyang3@jhmi.edu). Title: Positions in Neurpmorphic Engineering The Neuromorphic Engineering and Neurorobotics Lab of the SiNAPSE Institute, led by Dr. Nitish Thakor in collaboration with Dr. Ralph Etienne- Cummings (Johns Hopkins University), is recruiting research scientist and post-

doctoral fellows to a) carry out fundamental research on modeling aspects of the nervous system that would inspire their implementation in engineered circuits and systems, and b) build neuromoprphic circuits and robotic system, as well as biologically inspired machines. Examples are central pattern generator as a model of spinal regulation of locomotion, and visual and motion image processing inspired by cortical organization and concepts of saliency. Highly talented and motivated graduate students as well as candidates with a doctorate degree in the Electrical and Computer Engineering, bioengineering, neurosciences and cognitive sciences are encouraged to apply. Candidates in their own focus areas (whether neurosciences or circuits and robotics instrumentation development). career goals to Dr Nitish Thakor (Sinapsejobs@gmail.com) Title: Positions in Neurprosthesis and Brain Machine Interface The Neuroprosthesis and Brain Machine Interface Lab of the SiNAPSE Institute, led by Dr. Nitish Thakor and Dr. Anastastios Bezerianos is recruiting graduate students, research scientists and post-doctoral fellows and clinical scientists to a) develop an entire, novel peripheral nerve neuroprosthesis, and b) develop novel brain machine interfaces and carry out basic quantitative and experimental studies. The grand goal of these projects is to create world class prosthetic and BMI systems by assembling a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary faculty, Highly talented and motivated graduate students or candidates with doctorate degree in the Electrical and Computer Engineering, bioengineering, neurosciences and relevant clinical fields are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have strong signal processing, computational and mathematical skills. The should also be enthusiastic to work in a multidisciplinary research environment, skilled in their own focus areas (whether engineering/signal and image processing or instrumentation development or conducting experiments. Interested graduate candidates should send their CV with contact information for two references, and a cover letter describing their research accomplishments and career goals to Dr Nitish Thakor (Sinapsejobs@gmail.com) Title: Positions in Clinical Neurongineering

The Clinical Neuroengineering Lab of the SiNAPSE Institute, led by Dr. Nitish Thakor along with the clinician scientists at the medical school and the hospitl is recruiting graduate students, research scientists and post-doctoral fellows and clinical scientists to a) carry out translational research on analysis of brain rhythms such as EEG, evoked potentials, ECoG, and neural activity, b) building clinical grade neurological monitoring instrumentation and c) carrying out laboratory (animal) model studies for proof of concept and translational clinical studies at NUH and other hospitals in Singapore or around the world. One of our major launches will be develop clinical grade, FDA approved brain monitoring devices for neurocritical care units and operating rooms, as well as to create as a network for clinical diagnostics and counseling. Highly talented and motivated graduate students or candidates with a doctorate degree in the Electrical and Computer Engineering, bioengineering, neurosciences and relevant clinical fields are encouraged to apply. Candidates in their own focus areas (whether engineering/signal and image processing or instrumentation development or animal model/clinical studies). Interested graduate students candidates should send their CV with contact information for two references, and a cover letter describing their research accomplishments and career goals to Dr Nitish Thakor (Sinapsejobs@gmail.com) Title: Positions in Cognitive Neuroengineering The Cognitive Neuroengineering Lab of the SiNAPSE Institute, under the direction of Dr. Anastasios Bezerianos, is interested in recruiting at least three talented, skilled and highly motivated Post Docs to work under a common umbrella in the area of Cognitive Neuroscience with Applications. The axes of the laboratory research but not limited are the following: 1. Multisensorial and integrated experimental and computational study of high level brain functioning (understanding, decision making etc) with simultaneous brain signal and imaging techniques. 2. Building autonomous system of Brain Machine Interfacing for augmentation and/or rehabilitation of brain functioning. 3. Development of complete solutions, from laboratory to human and clinical use and eventual commercialization of innovative Neurotechnologies.
