Downloading the UHVPN Client and setting up Cisco VPN on Windows 7 Part 1: Downloading UHVPN 1. Go to the Software Downloads website: http://www.uh.edu/infotech/downloads/ 2. Select appropriate choice. 3. Click Log in. 4. Enter the following: User name: Your CougarNet ID Password: Your CougarNet Password 5. Click Login. 6. Select appropriate choice. 1
Note: To find out what Operating System you have click Start, right click Computer, and select Properties. 2
7. Click the drop down arrow on Save. 8. Click Save and Open. 9. Open vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0290-k9. 10. Select vpnclient_setup. 3
11. Click Run. 12. Click Next. 4
13. Click I accept the license agreement. 14. Click Next. 15. Click Next. 5
16. Click Next. Note: Wise Installation Wizard appears. 6
17. Click Yes. 7
18. Enter the following: User name: Your CougarNet ID Password: Your CougarNet Password 19. Click OK. Note: Leave Remember my credentials box unchecked. 20. Click Finish. 8
Part 2: Setting up Cisco VPN on Windows 7 1. Logon to Windows 7 using an account with administrative rights. 2. Right click on the Network Connections icon. 3. Select Open Network and Sharing Center. 4. Select Set up a new connection or network. 9
5. Select Connect to a workplace. 6. Click Next. 7. If this window comes up select No, create a new connection. 8. Click Next. 10
9. Select Use my Internet connection (VPN). 10. Enter the following: Internet address: 129.7.254.232 or 129.7.254.233 Destination name: type VPN or UHVPN Connection 11. Click Next. Note: Leave box unchecked. 11
12. Enter the following: User name: Your CougarNet ID Password: Your CougarNet Password 13. Click Connect. 12
14. Click Close. 15. To verify you are connected click the Network Connections icon. 13

How do I disconnect the UH Virtual Private Network (VPN)? 1. Click on the Network Connections icon. 2. Click the VPN connection you set up. 3. Click Disconnect. 2 3 1 17
4. To verify you are disconnected click the Network Connections icon. Note: If this account does not have a password, then stop! Unless and until every user account on the computer is protected by a "good" (i.e., strong) password, you do not want your computer connected to the University LAN. It could be compromised within minutes, if not seconds. Sometimes firewalls and ports are blocked by ISP s, routers, and other devices.
