Online Credit Card Payments Step 1 Go to www.globalteer.org and click on side at the bottom of the selection tabs. located on the left hand Step 2 You will be presented with the following screen. Please select the currency you wish to pay in. If you come from a country where you don t use UK or US$, then your bank will calculate the current exchange rate for you and you will be debited accordingly. Your bank may add an exchange rate charge to your transaction. This is not connected with Globalteer.

Next select your payment options, amount and for UK tax payers, Gift Aid. Then click SUBMIT. If you are a UK taxpayer, Globalteer can reclaim and add an extra 28% in tax to your donation, at no cost to you. UK charities are entitled to 28% tax reclaim from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs on every 1 donated by UK taxpayers. When you donate, you will be asked to confirm whether or not you are a UK taxpayer. Please note that tax can only be reclaimed on donations made by individuals who pay UK income or capital gains tax at least equal to the amount reclaimed on their donations in the current tax year. If in doubt, please contact Globalteer. Benefits to higher-rate taxpayers If you pay tax at the higher rate, you can reclaim tax relief on your gross donation at 18% (eg the difference between the higher rate of tax at 40% and the basic rate at 22%). For example, if you give 100 we can reclaim an extra 28.21 for the charity and you can reclaim another 23.08. As a result, a 100 gift worth 128.21 to Globalteer only costs you 76.92. Simply print out a copy of your donations history and attach it to your tax return. What if I am not a UK taxpayer? The Gift Aid scheme is unique to the UK. If you are not a UK taxpayer, you can still make a donation to Globalteer, but your donation will not attract the 28% tax 'bonus'.

Step 3 The next page lets you review the amount of your payment. If you would like to make a payment for a friend or colleague for the same amount, you can change the quantity. You have the option of making a note on your payment later on. NB. Please note if you are volunteering at more than one project, you will need to make a separate payment per project.

Step 4 Next, fill out your name and address and email address. Boxes marked with a * are mandatory. We will only use your information for our personal records, and we will not pass them on to third parties or other potential volunteers without permission.

Step 5 You will be redirected to a secure HSBC screen. Click on continue. Step 6 Next, fill in your card details ensuring that you are using one of the cards listed above in the picture. If you use a card other than Master Card, Maestro, Solo, Visa or Visa Electron, your payment will not work. Not all cards have an issue number. If that is the case with your card, then please leave this blank. (The issue number is a single number on the front of the card).

Sometimes you might encounter a security measure designed by your card issuer to prevent unauthorised transactions on your debit or credit card. Usually this can be solved by calling your bank and telling them you are making a payment online. If you do encounter any problems whilst trying to make a payment, please email us on info@globalteer.org and we can provide assistance and where needed an alternative method of payment. FAQ s Q: Is it safe to pay online? A: Globalteer is a registered non profit charity in the UK (registration number 1119706). We are legally bound by UK charity law. We market on the internet as this keeps our administration costs to a minimum allowing the majority of funds to be used where it is needed most. The internet also allows us to have a minimum impact upon the environment. We use HSBC's renowned secure payment server to process payments. Q: I want to pay in Australian dollars, but I can only select UK and US$ how can I pay you? A: As a UK based charity, Globalteer has a UK and a US$ account. You can select the currency as directed in your volunteer acceptance email. Your bank will calculate all exchange rates at the time of processing your transaction, and you will be debited the corresponding amount. Q: On the first screen, what is the difference between a Volunteer Placement and Donation/Sponsorship. A: A volunteer placement is what you choose if you are paying your fee to volunteer at one of the projects run by Globalteer. A donation/sponsorship payment is if you are feeling very generous and would like to donate some money to help Globalteer fulfil it s charitable objectives or if you are sponsoring a child, animal or particular project. You can make a note at the end of your payment to specify where you would like your donation/sponsorship to go. Q: I am not a UK tax payer, but in my country I can claim tax refunds for charitable contributions. Can I claim a tax refund for my donation to Globalteer? A: Each country has different rules regarding charitable tax refunds. We recommend you get in touch with your relevant government tax website to see their rules and regulations. Upon receiving your payment, we will send you a receipt which you may be able to use to claim a refund. The general rule for most countries is that you can only claim charitable tax refunds if you are donating to a charity within your own country.

Q: Verified by Visa I get to the second HSBC screen and after I have filled in all my credit card details, and click continue I get a screen asking for my verification password. What is the password? A: This is additional security set by your credit card, if you do not know your password then you can more often than not click continue and the payment will process. Otherwise you will need to contact your bank to tell them you are making an online payment and therefore require the verification password. Usually this is a password chosen during the registration of the credit card, and is only used for identification purposes and online transactions.
