Amazon and the Impact of Same/Next Day on the Market In the medium to long term, as Amazon enables same-day and next-day shipping into the top 50 US markets, this will drive more market share away from traditional retailers to Amazon It also raises the competitive bar for other e-commerce retailers. Amazon now controls about 20% of the US e-commerce market and this is increasing Lastly, it drives parcel shipments and revenues away from UPS and FedEx towards USPS and other regional courier companies This implies further parcel carrier rate increases are inevitable In 2013, it is estimated that Amazon shipped 182 Million packages with UPS accounting for 4.2% of their global volume and all expectations are that this volume will significantly decline International Inc., 2014 Page 17
