Language Exchange Programs To encourage students currently studying foreign languages to learn and practice that language on site Students in Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Spanish programs were organized to join summer/winter camp in partner universities Selected Chinese major students were sent to partner universities to be TAs in Chinese classes or instructors in summer camp, and learn foreign languages & culture at the same time as well 3 International Volunteer Programs Organize student volunteers to foreign countries to perform various community services during summer break Six teams went to rural areas of Mongolia, Thailand, Malaysia, and China last summer 4
International Study Tours Some of our departments organize international study tours (IST) during summer break to enhance teaching quality with in-situ observation Generally 2 weeks with 3 credit hours University and students share the cost Dept. of Architecture organize IST to SuZhou every year to study traditional Chinese building and garden forms We are trying to push every dept. to do the same 5 Cross-Strait Creativity Camp During July 21-25, 2014, the 2 nd Cross-Strait Creativity Camp (C 3 ) was held in Feng Chia University C 3 is organized by TongJi Univ., Hong Kong Polytechnic Univ., Shih Hsin Univ., & Feng Chia Univ. Total 80 students (20 from each member) attended C 3. They were mixed and regrouped into 10 teams. Lectures related to creativity, innovation & entrepreneurship were given. Meanwhile, students have 52 hours of working time to create a feasible entrepreneurship proposal The 3 rd C 3 will be held at HKPU on July 23-31, 2015 6

Summer United University During July 6-16, 2014, the 1 st Summer United Univ. (SUU) was held in TongJi Univ., Shanghai SUU is organized by TongJi Univ., Hong Kong Polytechnic Univ., Shih Hsin Univ., & Feng Chia Univ. Each member univ. offered one 3 credit hour General Education course (lectures & field trips) Students could select any course they wish to take. All credits are mutually honored by all member univ. International summer/winter camps We organize various international summer/winter camps to encourage our students to explore the world 26 students attended winter camp offered by University of Manitoba, Canada More than 20 camps this coming summer 17 World Exploration Program Provide short term overseas experiencing opportunity to students without overseas experience or with low learning achievement Mainland China/ Hong Kong /Macau were excluded Two girls can go together, yet boys can only go alone Students submit their proposals describing where to go and what they want to experience there Roundtrip tickets & part of living expense were awarded to selected students Total 542 students registered, 46 of them have already fulfill their dreams Experience sharing and a colorful report are required 18

FCU International Summer School Launched in 2011 to solve the problem of exchange student imbalance between FCU and international partners 2011-2013 provided one theme for a period of three weeks, all attendants were students from partner univ. with tuition waiver 2012 program started recruiting FCU local students 2014 developed into three themes and four weeks, including one 2 day & 1 night cultural trip 2014 started recruiting Mainland China students 2014 recruited non-partner students and paid tuition 2014 FCU students can join for free based on vacancy 22
TAIWANESE CULTURE Themes Through lectures & field trips, students learn the history, life styles, religions, architectures, traditional & modern arts, and foods in Taiwan. BRAND & INNOVATION This interactive program focuses on introducing the types of business models and innovation development in Taiwan.
