What s New in AppliDis Fusion 4 Service Pack 1 Systancia Published: September 2010 Summary The new AppliDis Fusion 4 Service Pack 1 version introduces significant new developments to the AppliDis product (the latest version being AppliDis Fusion 4). More than a dozen updates have been integrated to this Service Pack 1. The main ones are: the compatibility with Oracle and SQL Server 2008 databases, the compatibility with 64-bit clients and enhanced scalability management.

Compatibility with Oracle and SQL Server 2008 What does it do? AppliDis is now opening itself to the Oracle world. Thus, AppliDis Fusion 4 Service Pack 1 allows compatibility with databases from Oracle 10g release 2. Compatibility with Microsoft SQL server 2008 is also available now with Service Pack 1. The functions compatible with Oracle are the same as the ones compatible with Microsoft SQL Server databases. What s new? New functions have been added: - Possible choice of a database such as Oracle 10g release 2, - All features available with Microsoft SQL Server databases are now available with Oracle. How do I use it? The database is chosen when the product is installed. You can choose among the following : - Oracle 10, - Microsoft SQL Server 2008, - Microsoft SQL Server 2005, - Microsoft SQL Server 2000 / MSDE. Enhanced scalability management and load balancing rules What does it do? AppliDis Fusion 4 Service Pack 1 offers enhanced scalability on rather high volumes of users (several dozens of thousands) especially during critical periods of user login. AppliDis Fusion 4 has been improved in order to ensure scalability management for architectures serving several dozens of thousand users. A new load balancing mode is used based on rules that can be defined by the administrator. The administrator can define which load balancing mode will be available. Thus, the administrator can direct a user or group of users towards a specific server (for instance, for users from a subsidiary using a different language than the headquarters and who need to access a server operating system deployed only for them). What s new? New functions have been added: - Administration server optimisation - Virtual machine optimisation - Application server optimisation - Thin Client access optimisation - AppliDis Desktop optimisation - Load balancing rules management based on the user How do I use it? Compatibility with 64-bit clients What does it do? AppliDis Fusion 4 Service Pack1 is compatible with 64-bit Windows OS clients: Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows Seven. What s new? The 64-bit section adds the same features than those available for 32-bit environments. How do I use it? Compatibility with 64-bit environments is integrated in AppliDis clients. Enhanced support for directories, monitoring and security What does it do? To integrate AppliDis Fusion into enterprise networks, enhanced support for directories, such as Active Directory, is essential (for instance, the ability to use usernames based on the UPN format from Active Directory s latest version). Functions linked to the interoperability with third-party security solutions have also been integrated to AppliDis Fusion. What s new? New functions have been added : - Monitoring : o o Ability to specify several IP addresses of SNMP Management Servers New alerts and new SNMP parametres, - Directory : o Compatibility with UPN (User Principal Name) authentication o Novell e-directory environment support - Security : o Interoperability with Single Sign-On solution How do I use it? Compatibility with Windows CE thin clients What does it do? AppliDis Fusion 4 Service Pack 1 is compatible with Windows CE clients (ie. for items such as thin clients). Since operating systems dedicated to thin clients change frequently, those require regular updates. Systancia also offers new client software to allow full compatibility with those systems.
