Think UPna & Live UPna Pamplona - Iruña La The Public University of Navarra (UPNA) is located in Navarra, a region with a high standard of living, south of the Pyrenees and one hour from the sea. Its main campus, the Campus Arrosadia, is in the capital of Navarre, Pamplona, a city of 200,000 inhabitants (more than 300,000 in the metropolitan area) and three universities, internationally known for the festival of San Fermin. In the Campus there are six faculties and schools, research centers, the library, a residence hall, a sports center, golf course and a language center. UPNA has an extensive range of cultural and sports activities available to all university community. Nursing studies are given in another area of Pamplona in the building of Health Sciences, located in the hospital complex of Navarra. Fisiotherapy and Mechanical Design Engineering studies are given in Tudela, a city one hour from Pamplona, in the south of Navarra Madrid and Barcelona are 3 hours and 5 hours, respectively from Pamplona Bilbao, 2 hours and Biarritz, to 1.30 h. It is a teaching of quality in social, technological, scientific and health areas which takes place in six faculties and schools. Undergraduate Studies As an exchange student, you can choose any subjects of Grade or First and Second Cycle offered in UPNA, being of the same or different degrees. Application process For academic stays of no more than one year, when there is an agreement between the student s University of origin (or Isep) and the UPNA. International exchange students who want to study next year at UPNA must be previously selected by their universities. These nominations must be communicated to International Office of UPNA (relext@unavarra.es). Only applications sent by students previously nominated by their universities will be admitted. Students nominated by their university will receive an email from International Office at UPNA containing the instructions they have to follow. You can start the procedure only if you have received such an email. On-line application procedure 1nd. Registration: The first step is to register in order to obtain your password. Once you do that, you will receive an email with the password and the link to fill the application form. 2nd. Filling in your Application form Personal details: The personal details you have filled in your registration form will be shown here. Please fill in the empty fields and correct any possible mistakes. Information on the exchange: In the field called "FACULTY/SCHOOL", please select the Centre 520 Programas de Intercambio. 3nd. Print the Application form and send it with learning agreement to: incoming@unavarra.es Upon receipt of this documentation, your application can be considered accepted. You will receive information to organize your arrival to Pamplona. If you are not an European Union citizen, you will receive a letter of acceptance by post to arrange the visa. Deadline for application May 2-June 14: For the first semester and full year 2013-14. September 2 - October 18: For the second semester 2013-14. Undergraduate registration Exchange students will send to UPNA their provisional enrollment. Once in Pamplona, you have two weeks to formalize the final registration with the help of their academic coordinator. When you get to Pamplona, you will have a orientation meeting, explaining all the issues you need (enrollment and other information of interest ) to facilitate integration in Pamplona and in the university. and click in plan de estudios. Before selecting the subject that you intend to attend, be sure it will be provided in the period of your stay in UPNA: first semester (1º S) or second semester (2º S). Practical Information 01 Learning Spanish UPNA gives you different options to facilitate the learning of Spanish: Free intensive course on arrival. As exchange student you have the possibility to do an intensive course of Spanish, free and during the week prior to begin the semester. The Language Center provides the opportunity to enroll in a 3 weeks intensive Spanish course before the start of each semester (and before one week intensive course). Practical Information 02 Accommodation UPNA gives you the option to stay during the first four nights in the Residence Hall or with a family (the costs of these days will be paid by UPNA). During these 4 days, you can search for adequate accommodation. On arrival at Pamplona, we offer a list of apartments to share with other students and advice to search. ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS Shared apartments Most / exchange students are housed in shared apartments in the city, near the campus. If you want to find out before you arrive of the range of flats and rooms for rent, you can request by e-mail the Hosting service oficina.informacion@unavarra.es of the University a list of apartments and rooms to hire. Although prices vary widely, depending on the characteristics of each flat and the area where it is located, the average price ranges between 250 and 300 euros a month for a single room in a shared flat by three or four people, including expenses of electricity, water and heating. Not all flats have telephone and / or Internet connection, but, where they are available, these expenses are extra. It is usual, on entering an apartment, to pay the first full month plus one month's bail-deposit, so you should calculate that in the early days you may have to pay 500 euros or so. Residence Hall The UPNA has available for students a residence located on the campus of Arrosadia and called Los Abedules. It has 250 posts and there are different types of rooms: single with kitchen, single with a shared kitchen and double suites for short stays. Practical Information 05 Student visas 06 Health card Los Citizens and residents of the European Union do not require a visa in Spain. With an identity card or passport they may live in Spain as long as they want. However, citizens of the rest the world need a visa in their passport if they are going to stay more than 90 days. The student visa is resolved directly at the Consulates. To obtain it, you will need a letter of acceptance which will be sent to you by us. Remember that a student visa itself alone does not grant permission to work in Spain Foreign students who have a Student Card are allowed to work in exceptional circumstances, provided that the work relates to their studies for a period not exceeding one year or the period of the Student Card. If you are a citizen of the EU or European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) or Switzerland, you must obtain a European Heath Card in your country which entitles you to receive health coverage in Spain. If you come from another country, check if there is agreement Social Security between National Health System of your country and of Spain (for many countries of Latin America). If so, you will get a document from the authorities of your country to have health coverage in Spain. If you are not inside these groups of citizens you should take a private insurance health care during your stay in UPNA.
