See the FileMaker Server 7 Read Me.pdf for instructions on removing FileMaker Server. Important If you wish to save any data files stored in the FileMaker Server 7 default location, locate the Library/ FileMaker Server 7/Data/Databases folder and move the files you wish to save to another location. To access the configuration assistants, open the FileMaker Server Admin application, connect to the server you want to work with, and click one of the icons in the Details Pane. Alternatively, you can also select host and then choose either Action menu > Assistants or Assistants menu. In FileMaker Pro, you set a privilege to keep a client connected to FileMaker Server when the client is idle. When this privilege is enabled, FileMaker Pro disconnects the client from FileMaker Server. In some languages other than English, when you view the FileMaker Server Event.log or Stats.log file in the Mac OS X Console application, some characters do not display properly. FileMaker uses the following ports: 5003: FileMaker Pro 20003: FileMaker Server as the default AdminAuxPort 50003: FileMaker Server service (Windows) or daemon (Mac OS) 50006: FileMaker Server Helper service (Windows) or daemon (Mac OS) In some languages other than English, when you view the FileMaker Server Event.log or Stats.log file in the Mac OS X Console application, some characters do not display properly. Example script files are not included with FileMaker Server.

When installing software, use the organization name exactly as it appears on your license agreement ( Proof of License ). When specifying a variable for Organization= or Company=, type the organization name exactly as it appears on your license agreement ( Proof of License ). You can use spaces in the path specified after INSTALLDIR= if the path is enclosed by quotation marks. FileMaker Server 7 Advanced Custom Web Publishing Guide Errata Edition: 01 Last errata update: September 22, 2004 Page 27 Description of elements in the fmresultset grammar timestamp-format attribute Page 31 Description of elements in the FMPXMLLAYOUT grammar The timestamp-format attribute of the <datasource> element specifies the format of timestamps in the XML document. Month: MM (2 digits) Day: dd (2 digits) Year: yyyy (4 digits) Hour (1-24): HH (2 digits) Minute: mm (2 digits) Second: ss (2 digits) For date, time, and timestamp fields, data for value lists will be formatted using the fm format for that field type. For example, if a birthdays value list is used for a popup menu on a birthdate field of a layout, and the birthdate field is of type date, then the values output for that value list will all be in the fm date format. Note If two fields with different field types on a layout share the same value list, the first field s type determines the format of the value list data.

FileMaker Server 7 Advanced Custom Web Publishing Guide Errata 5 FileMaker Server 7 Advanced Custom Web Publishing Guide Errata (continued) Edition: 01 Last errata update: September 22, 2004 Page 35 Understanding how an XML request is processed Notes, second bullet Page 45 Checking and fixing the CDML Converter s generated stylesheets Notes, second bullet Page 66 Using the date, time, and day extension functions Page 67 Using the date, time, and day extension functions Table of functions Incorrect and missing information Incorrect and missing information The parameters for layout and then globals (the.global= portion of a URL) are processed before the listed parameters. If the converted XSLT stylesheets include a FileMaker date or time extension function, such as fmxslt:get_date(), then the function uses the fm format for strings (not the configured locale for FileMaker Server). The fm formats are MM/dd/yyyy for date, HH:mm:ss for time, and MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss for timestamp. 1 Instead of resolving locale-based date and time formats, XML will now use the fm format regardless of locale. To re-arrange output values into a different/preferred format, use calculation functions or JavaScript. 1 fm date format is: MM/dd/yyyy fm time format is: HH:mm:ss fm timestamp format is: MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss 1 fmxslt:get_date() Returns the current date in the fm format (not the short format). 1 fmxslt:get_date(string format) Returns the current date in the format you specify. Enter the string short, long, or fm for the format parameter. 1 fmxslt:get_time() Returns the current time in the fm format (not the short format). 1 fmxslt:get_time(string format) Returns the current time in the format you specify. Enter the string short, long, or fm for the format parameter. 1 fmxslt:compare_date(string date 1, String date 2) Both dates must be specified in the fm date format (not the short date format). 1 fmxslt:compare_time(string time 1, String time 2) Both times must be specified in the fm time format (not the short time format). 1 fmxslt:get_fm_date_format() string Returns the formatting string for fm date format: MM/dd/yyyy. 1 fmxslt:get_fm_time_format() string Returns the formatting string for fm time format: HH:mm:ss.

FileMaker Server 7 Advanced Site Assistant Help Errata Topics Error Correction Selecting a database (Step 5) Selecting site features (Step 2) Including a summary report (Step 1) Last errata update: September 22, 2004 When using the Site Assistant, if you select a database that contains more than one table, be sure to select layouts that are based on the same occurrence of the table in the relationships graph, or the generated site will return unexpected results. For example, when you select the layouts for a search page, an edit records page, and an add records page, the layouts need to be based on the same table occurrence.

8 FileMaker Server 7 and FileMaker Server 7 Advanced Documentation Errata Converting FileMaker Databases from Previous Versions Errata Edition: 01 Last errata update: July 15, 2004 Page 29 Access privileges Page 33 File references Page 36 Changes in layouts Incomplete information It is possible to create a small number of accounts that are shared among many individuals (such as a Marketing account and a Sales account). However, keep in mind that shared accounts are a security risk. For better security, use individual accounts instead of shared accounts. If you intend to use shared accounts anyway, make sure you limit the access capabilities of the privilege sets that shared accounts use. Change the password occasionally, particularly when certain users no longer require access. After converting databases from previous versions of FileMaker Pro, be sure to review all file references in your solution, and delete the ones you don t need. The File References dialog box displays information like folder locations and IP addresses, which can reveal information you don t want to distribute. If you have inserted a picture (Windows Metafile image) as part of a layout, you must convert the file on a Windows machine to preserve the image. This behavior is similar to the behavior described on page 42 explaining how container fields that store Windows Metafile images get converted differently on Windows than on Mac OS. General When opening a file created in a previous Roman language version of FileMaker Pro and later edited using the Japanese version, Japanese data may not convert correctly. To preserve Japanese data, use the following process: 1. Using the Japanese version of FileMaker Pro 6 on a Japanese OS, open the file and save a copy as a clone. 2. Convert the cloned file using FileMaker Pro 7. General When converting a file containing data from character sets not supported in FileMaker Pro 6 and earlier (Cyrillic or Greek, for example) some data may not be converted correctly. To preserve such non-roman data on conversion, do the following: 1. Before conversion, make sure the Language setting of each field in Storage Options is set to a language matching the data, and that Indexing is turned ON. 2. Verify that an appropriate font for the character set is applied to all data. 3. Use FileMaker Pro 6 to clone the file on the same platform (Windows or Mac OS) where it was originally created. 4. Convert the cloned file using FileMaker Pro 7.

Installing FileMaker 7 ODBC and JDBC Client Drivers Errata 9 Installing FileMaker 7 ODBC and JDBC Client Drivers Errata Edition: 01 Last errata update: July 15, 2004 Incorrect and missing information Updates to the FileMaker ODBC and JDBC Developer s Guide and Installing FileMaker ODBC and JDBC Client Drivers are available at www.filemaker.com. If you share your FileMaker database files with client applications using ODBC and JDBC (Windows only), download these PDFs for the latest information. Use uppercase letters for SQL function names: some are case-sensitive. The FileMaker text field type always converts to ODBC data type SQL_VARCHAR (never to SQL_LONGVARCHAR). The FileMaker number field type converts to ODBC data type SQL_DOUBLE (not SQL_DECIMAL). The ODBC Catalog function GetTypeInfo reports the FileMaker container field type as a SQL_LONGVARBINARY data type. If you intend to use shared accounts anyway, make sure you limit the access capabilities of the privilege sets that shared accounts use. Change the password occasionally, particularly when certain users no longer require access. For increased security, do not assign the Full Access privilege set to an External Server account type. Don t use third-party backup software on hosted FileMaker Pro databases. First, use FileMaker Server to make a backup copy of your database, then run your third-party backup software on the copy. Backup software can damage open, hosted databases. Do not run virus protection software on open, hosted databases. First, close the databases, then run the virus protection software.
