RADAR SYSTEM CAMERA SYSTEM DETROIT ASSURANCE TM A SUITE OF SAFETY SYSTEMS
TM Detroit Assurance Safety Systems deliver exceptional control and protection. Through a radar and optional camera system, Detroit Assurance provides optimum on-road safety, as it integrates seamlessly in the Freightliner Cascadia and Cascadia Evolution equipped with a Detroit TM engine and DT12 TM or a manual transmission. With the bumper-mounted radar and the optional camera mounted on the windshield, Detroit Assurance communicates information to the truck s brakes, engine, and transmission in real time. Detroit Assurance radar can detect and track up to 40 objects at a distance of up to 660 feet, while the Video Radar Decision Unit (VRDU) refreshes its speed, distance, and time calculations 200 times per second. Using input from the VRDU, Detroit Assurance assists your truck using two distinct systems.
CAMER A SYSTEM OPTIONAL FEATURE: Lane Departure Warning ABA PROVIDES THREE PHASES O F C O L L I S I O N M I T I G AT I O N Active Brake Assist 1 Adaptive Cruise Control VISUAL /AUDIO WARNING Alert appears, while ABA mutes the radio and activates a buzzer. Active Brake Assist (ABA) is always on, detecting ACC progressively reacts to detected risks: the distances to objects, calculating speed, and determining if a warning or action is necessary. Based on the position and speed of your truck and other vehicles, ABA warns the driver and decelerates automatically to lessen the severity of collisions that might otherwise be unavoidable. Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) automatically adjusts your truck s cruising speed to maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles in your path, allowing your truck to remain in cruise control longer. 2 3 When crossing a lane without a turn signal, LDW: Decelerates truck when sensing a slower vehicle ahead Maintains reduced cruising speed Reaccelerates to set cruising speed when slower vehicle clears PARTIAL BRAKING ABA will partially brake to physically warn the driver to respond. MPH ACTIVE BRAKING ABA will take command, using the transmission, engine brake, and service brake to slow the truck safely. Mutes the radio Sends an audible warning through speakers Optional headway switch on the instrument panel to adjust following time. 12 A econ 210,000 mi Lane Departure Warning (LDW) is an optional independent system that is only available in addition to the radar system. LDW uses a camera to track the truck s position and provide warnings if the truck veers out of its lane. This forward-facing camera is specially built to detect reflective paint and raised reflectors in road lines, however if lines are faint, or covered by snow or dirt, LDW may not activate. The LDW camera never faces or records the driver. It can be disabled with a switch on the instrument panel for 15 minutes, then automatically re-engages at 47 mph. Lane Departure switch is available on the instrument panel to disable LDW for 15 minutes. Adaptive Cruise Control 3/9 3.5 sec 65 mph 225 ft Distance can be adjusted between 2.3 3.5 seconds.
