71 competitiveness clusters in France A competitiveness cluster brings together large and small firms, research laboratories and educational establishments, all working together in a specific region to develop synergies and cooperative efforts. The objectives: To boost the competitiveness of the French economy and to help develop growth and jobs in key markets, by: accelerating innovation efforts providing support for high-tech and creative activities - primarily industrial - in the various regions of France improving the attractiveness of France via greater international visibility

SOME FIGURES: Since 2005, the clusters have contributed to the emergence of 889 collaborative R&D projects. These projects represent 4.4 billion euros of expenditures on R&D and have mobilized 15,000 researchers. These projects have benefited from 1.7 billion euros of public financing of which more than 1.1 billion euros were from the State in the dedicated cluster fund program.

Territories The regions of Provence Alpes Côte d Azur and Languedoc-Roussillon have gained solid experience in risk management, in particular natural, industrial and chemical risks. Concentration of many skills: research / training about risks An important economic network working in the area of risk management.
