Responsible for day-to-day activities on personnel preparation grants to prepare teachers of children with visual impairments. Specifically was responsible for the development of web-based courses, distance instruction, supervision of student teachers, advisement, grant management, and on campus teaching. From January 1, 2001 to December 1, 2003 50% of time was spent on the project Early Intervention Training Center for Infants and Toddlers with Visual Impairments, a 5-year federal grant to prepare materials for university faculty to assist pre-service teachers in learning to work with families of children birth to age 3. 8/97-8/99 Assistant Professor. Program in Visual Disabilities, Department of Special Education, Florida State University. Responsible for research and teaching courses in special education and visual disabilities, as well as supervision and advisement of graduate and undergraduate students. Assisted with courses, student teaching, grant writing and other aspects of a masters level teacher training program to prepare teachers of children with visual impairment. 3/95-5/97 Consultant for Children with Visual Impairment. Provided direct instruction and consultation to four students in a rural school district and facilitated the transition of a student from the Arizona State School for the Blind to her home school. 8/90-6/93 Teacher of Students with Visual Impairment and Multiple Disabilities. Charleston County School District, Charleston, South Carolina. Served as a classroom teacher for children ages to 3 to 10 years with visual impairment and multiple disabilities. Developed and implemented IEPs, infused technology into the classroom, and designed a Community Based Instruction program. 8/89-6/90 Adjunct Instructor. University of Miami, Miami, Florida. Designed and prepared a classroom to serve children with visual impairment birth to 3 years of age. Collaborated with psychologists and educators in the development of a series of training modules for caretakers of children birth to age 3. Specifically co-authored a training module about working with infants and toddlers who are visually impaired. Provided consultation, supervision, and inservice training to staff employed in early intervention facilities in southern Florida.
