Executive Summary 2015 Bluewater Nonprofit Solutions

Where does your organization stack up? That s the ultimate question that a salary survey should answer. But it can be difficult to compare your organization against one that s much larger or in a different market. Your nonprofit also might have unique positions that are difficult to contrast or even just plain hard to find in other organizations. Any salary survey can offer these typical data points but The NonProfit Times 2015 Salary and Benefits Report, authored and administered in partnership with Roswell, Ga.-based Bluewater Nonprofit Solutions, offers unparalleled data about salaries and benefits that runs deep and wide, to provide meaningful comparisons among and within peer groups. In addition to average salary increases, the report features averages of all kinds for more than 250 job titles within 28 different job families, and a plethora of information on the whole spectrum of benefits, including health, dental, vision and retirement plans. Data are broken down by field of work, budget size and other key metrics, as well as providing average, minimum, maximum, median and key percentiles within each category of compensation or benefits. Almost 900 organizations responded to this year s survey, representing a wide variety of nonprofits, ranging from affiliates of national charities like United Way, American Red Cross and YMCA, to regional foundations and associations as well as local clubs and charities. Participation in the survey was open to all U.S. nonprofits with at least one fulltime employee, working no less than 30 hours per week. Salary data for part-time positions was not collected but data can be used as a starting point to determine part-time pay based on a percentage of base salary represented. Organizations were asked to complete the survey with data that was valid as of Sept. 15, 2014. Detailed information on benefits and salaries can be found for 251 different positions found at nonprofits, from top to bottom, spanning entry-level posts all the way to chief executive officer and executive directors. The 251 positions in the report are organized by 28 different job families, allowing comparisons on the cost of each area of the operation, with minimums, maximums, and by key percentile (25 th, 75 th and 50 th ), as well as total cash compensation as a percentage of the operating budget, for each job family. 2015 Bluewater Nonprofit Solutions 2

There were 131 positions with an average total cash compensation of at least $50,000, and among those, 21 reported an average of at least $100,000, with five positions that had an average of more than $150,000 annually. All 251 positions in the survey are as follows: Average Job Family Position Title Base Salary Administrative/General Office Administration Director $55,651 Administrative Assistant, Intermediate Level $32,975 Administrative Assistant, Junior Level $31,823 Administrative Assistant, Senior Level $39,540 Data Entry Operator $31,906 Data Entry Supervisor $40,683 Executive Assistant $45,275 File Clerk $26,768 Mail Clerk $35,864 Meetings and Events Manager/Planner $46,791 Office Manager $38,844 Receptionist $28,685 Advocacy/Government Affairs Government Relations Director/Manager $88,099 Grassroots Advocacy/Campaign Manager $58,822 Lobbyist $80,202 Policy Advisor $76,529 Policy Analyst $58,545 Animal Care Animal Adoption Counselor $33,146 Animal Care Worker $24,884 Animal Shelter Manager $46,030 Veterinarian $83,069 Veterinary Clinic Manager $67,057 Veterinary Technician $35,309 Athletics/Recreation Aquatics Director $30,688 Recreation/Activity Leader $28,506 Call Center Inbound Call Center Associate $30,946 Inbound Call Center Manager $55,617 Inbound Call Center Supervisor $49,277 Outbound Call Center Associate $32,671 Communications/Marketing Communications/Marketing/Public Relations Assistant $40,195 Communications/Public Relations Director $71,919 Communications/Public Relations Manager $54,671 Editor $63,244 Editorial Services Manager $67,716 Marketing Coordinator $42,962 2015 Bluewater Nonprofit Solutions 3
