2 ELIGIBILITY Active employees who are scheduled to work at least 30 hours per week are eligible for Blackboard benefits. Benefits-eligible employees may also provide coverage for eligible family members including: Employee s spouse; or Eligible domestic partner; and Children up to age 26 (medical only) Domestic Partner Benefits Blackboard offers benefit coverage for eligible same sex or opposite sex domestic partners. Children of qualifying domestic partners may also be eligible for coverage. HEALTH Medical Blackboard offers three comprehensive health plan options: Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA) Each plan includes prescription drug and vision coverage, and covers in-network preventive care in full. Vision Comprehensive vision coverage is included when you enroll in a medical plan. Benefits are available in- and out-of-network. Dental Dental coverage is provided through a Preferred Provider Organization, with three coverage levels from which to choose. Your portion of medical and dental premiums will be paid through pre-tax payroll contributions. Income Security and Retirement Benefits.
3 LIFE & DISABILITY Life Insurance Blackboard provides you with 100% companypaid Basic Life Insurance coverage equal to your annual compensation and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance in the same amount. Supplemental Life Insurance In addition to company-paid life insurance, you have the option to purchase supplemental insurance for yourself, as well as coverage for your family. Short Term Disability Blackboard provides you with Short Term Disability (STD) coverage at no cost to you. If you become disabled as a result of illness, injury, or pregnancy, the plan replaces 60% of your base pay (up to $1,500 per week) while you are on an approved disability leave. Long Term Disability Long Term Disability (LTD) coverage is also provided at no cost to you. LTD benefits start when STD coverage ends and replaces 60% of your base pay (up to $8,000 per month) while you are on an approved disability leave. Supplemental Long Term Disability You may purchase additional Long Term Disability coverage at a discounted rate. OTHER VOLUNTARY PRE-TAX BENEFITS Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) Blackboard offers both a pre-tax Health Care FSA and a pre-tax Dependent Care FSA to help you save on eligible health care and dependent care expenses. Parking Reimbursement Plan You may set aside money on a pre-tax basis to pay for parking expenses related to your commute to and from work. Public Transit (in selected areas) Employees working at Blackboard locations where public transportation is available may set aside money on a pre-tax basis to pay for commuting to and from work via the train and/or bus. RETIREMENT 401(k) Plan Blackboard s 401(k) plan provides you with a variety of investment options from which to choose. You determine the amount you would like to contribute to the 401(k) plan on a pre-tax basis up to the IRS limits. In addition, Blackboard offers an annual discretionary matching contribution. Work-Life Benefits.
4 WORK-LIFE Paid Time Off & Personal Leave As a full-time employee, you will be eligible for up to 15 days of paid time off per calendar year. Blackboard employees also receive five floating personal days per year to use whenever you choose. Once you have been with the company for three years, you will be eligible for 20 days of paid time off per calendar year. Employees are eligible for 25 days of paid time off after eight years of service. Holidays Blackboard offices observe eight holidays per year. Maternity Leave If you go on maternity leave, Blackboard supplements Short Term Disability (STD) benefits by covering 100% of your pay for the waiting period plus 40% of your base salary for the remaining five weeks of STD for maternity claims. New Parent Leave As a new mom or dad, you are eligible to receive two weeks of paid leave to use within the first 60 days immediately following the birth or adoption of your child. Family Medical Leave Once the eligibility requirements under the Family Medical Leave Act are met, you may be eligible for up to 12 weeks of leave every 12 months to use for illness, care of your newborn or newly adopted child, or to care for a family member who is seriously ill. The District of Columbia provides up to 16 weeks of Family Leave and 16 weeks of Medical Leave in a 24 month period for employees working in the Washington, DC office. Other Leave As a full-time employee, you will also receive a paid time off benefit in the event of a death in your family, if you are called to jury duty, subpoenaed as a witness in a jury trial, or if you are called to military duty. Adoption Assistance Blackboard offers employees adoption assistance benefits to help employees with adoption-related expenses. Back-up Care Advantage Program Blackboard has partnered with Bright Horizons to provide -up care for your dependent family members. The benefit provides access to Bright Horizons childcare centers, in-home childcare, and in-home elder care throughout the United States. Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) You and your family have access to the EAP resource center and referral service at no cost to you. Through this program, you can receive confidential counseling, financial services, and legal assistance. Flexible Work Arrangements Alternative work schedules and partial week telecommuting are options available to employees in certain situations with approval from management and human resources. OTHER GREAT BENEFITS Referral Incentives You may be eligible for a bonus if you refer an individual who is hired by Blackboard. Travel Assist If an emergency arises, whether you are on business or personal travel, you and your family may use this free service to assist with any travel issues that may occur. Discount Programs Discounts are available for cellular services, computer software, and fitness clubs through a variety of local vendors. Fitness Center Some office locations have onsite fitness centers and discounts are available for major fitness centers, chains, and clubs. Wellness Rooms Rooms are provided to allow for privacy for new moms to use for lactation or to rest if you are not feeling well.
