It s enough connect ONLY the Main Desk to Internet: all the other Focus workstations and Lanes Computer could be controlled using the Main Desk as tunnel access. As default, the it s equipped with 2 LAN port: The LAN built in mother board is generally reserved for bowling local area connection that communicate with lanes computer and other workstations. The additional LAN board is used for connecting a router or modem/router or a network switch connected to a lan connected to modem/router. Usually the 2 lan are named: STELTRONIC local area network connection for Bowling INTERNET - reserved for Internet WARNING! The Steltronic Lan use a reserved Static IP 10.11.1.1 and Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0 The Internet IP must not conflict with the Steltronic Lan or Scoring system do not work as well. To knows the IP s used on your Main Desk, after the ADSL line connection open a Command prompt on Main Desk and type ipconfig /all There are vary ways for Steltronic Service to connect with customer focus Main Desk, we choose 2 popular ways: [A] use Windows Remote Desktop connection [B] use Symantec Pcanywhere (default) Windows Remote Desktop connection is free of charge but it s limited: to run Focus from Remote service it s necessary asks to the customer to run Focus first, there are no manager for file transfer, it s necessary use FTP method. The advantage of Pcanywhere is a safe connection (encrypted mode) and the possibility to make instant file transfer. For using Pcanywhere is necessary install Pcanywhere HOST version on the. The computer of Steltronic Customer Service needs Pcanywhere Host & Remote. The vary by bowling centre, but for all kind of connection it s necessary create an access from the outside to allow the Steltronic Customer Service to login with the centre. In other words, it s necessary open the ports for RDP and Pcanywhere connections on the Router and on Firewall of the Bowling Centre. For doing these operations it s necessary knows the Router and Firewall configuration.

Pg. 5 of 14 [1.1]Firewall & Antivirus on Main Desk FIREWALL: Windows Firewall could remain active, even on the Steltronic Lan, but it s necessary setting the exceptions. For set the windows firewall, open the Control panel, Windows Firewall, exceptions or directly on the Advanced properties of LAN: ADD PORT: TCP 8085 (used by Focus Program) ADD PORT: TCP 5631 (used by Pcanywhere) ADD PORT: UDP 5632 (used by Pcanywhere) ADD PORT: TCP 3389 (used by Remote Desktop Connection) ADD PROGRAM: C:\Program Files\Steltronic\Focus\Steltronic.IBCMS.FrontDesk.exe ADD PROGRAM: C:\Program Files\Steltronic\Focus\Steltronic.IBCMS.PairServer.exe File and printer sharing (when other workstations are installed) Remote Desktop Remote Assistance Symantec Pcanywhere ANTI-VIRUS: is not mandatory but we suggest to install an Antivirus on the Main Desk which is computer usually with the internet access. Remember to make the necessary exception for focus program and used ports. It s important that anti-virus do not interfere with Focus program and do not slow down the computer during business hours; it s suggest to set antivirus running for weekly or daily scanning after business hours and do not works during bowling time. Refer to the Antivirus instructions for further details. [1.2] Check\Enable the Remote Desktop Connection All computers in the network (Focus workstations, Lane Computer and Photostrike4) could be reach from the Main Desk using the Remote Desktop Connection (RDP). Using the Remote desktop connection trough the Main Desk, a remote Service operator could access to any workstation or lane computer for maintenance and update. To allow remote desktop connection it s mandatory create at least one User protected by password (see Focus software installation manual for further details). CHECK REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTION (mandatory for Main Desk and workstations) Open the Computer System properties Remote tab. Enable the section Allow user to connect remotely to this computer and check that one user with Administrator right is allowed to login in.

Pg. 6 of 14 [1.3] Connecting to a Router Connecting a router to the Main Desk it s a simply operation: most routers assign dynamic IP address by default. As default the TCP/IP properties of Internet lan are set for Obtain an IP address automatically. Most routers assign dynamic IP addresses by default, they do this because dynamic ip address networks require no configuration. The end user can simply plug their computer in, and their network will work. When ip addresses are assigned dynamically, the router is the one that assigns them. Every time a computer reboots it asks the router for an ip address. The router then hands it an ip address that has not already been handed out to another computer. When the router is connected with the Main Desk, it s possible access to the web from the Front Desk but it s not possible for Steltronic Service accessing into the system. To let Steltronic Service people to link inside the system is necessary forward (open) on the Router the ports used by Pcanywhere and Remote Desktop. Forward ports on Router is an operation that vary by the Router model: some Router need to set a Static IP on the Main Desk Internet network, some Router not. An easy way to know how the router must be configure for port forward is click on the following link: http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/pcanywhere/pcanywhereindex.htm This web side (suggested by Symantec) provide the port forward information s of most of the Router. For loading the instructions, just browse the page and highlight the link with your router name and model. IMPORTANT: the web detect the External IP Address (see the arrow): the external IP must be send to Steltronic Service for let s the service people to reach the computer. In the next pages there are 2 sample of Router connection: the first example is with a Router that require Static Ip, the second with a router with Dynamic ip.

Pg. 7 of 14 Example of Router port forwarding with Linksys WRT54G Router This Router require a static IP address for forward the ports on local area network. The first steps is identify the IP in use assigned by the Router and setup as Static IP on Main Desk Internet lan. When you set your computer to a static ip address, the router does not know that a computer is using that ip address; so the very same ip address may be handed to another computer later, and that will prevent both computers from connecting to the internet. When you assign a static IP addresses, it's important to assign an IP address that will not be handed out to other computers by the dynamic IP address server. The dynamic IP address server is generally referred to as the dhcp server. NOTE: Instead of Static IP, one possible option should subscribe a dyndns service to provide a fixed domain name on a dynamic ip addressing (this depends on isp contract). For further details, see the web side www.dyndns.com Setting up a static ip for Internet Lan Open a command prompt on Main Desk: Click on start all programs Accessories Command prompt.
