Joanne Underhill-Mettler, ARNP Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress Joanne has worked in the area of Pediatrics for the past 22 years. She began working in the area of child sexual abuse in 1997 in Anchorage, Alaska. Currently, Joanne works as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Examiner at the Center for Sexual Assault at Harborview and at Mary Bridge Hospital in Tacoma. Joanne has attended over 500 hours of training on child sexual abuse in the last seven years and provides several lectures to various medical providers in the area of child sexual abuse. Cheryl Ann Graf, ARNP, MSN, MBA T-Systems Bremerton Until recently Cheryl Graf was the Director of Emergency Services at Mason General Hospital in Shelton, Washington where she organized and implemented the electronic medical record for the Emergency Department. The T-System was the vendor for this project and Cheryl is now working for T-System as a Sales Executive and Consultant. Previously, Ms. Graf was the Clinical Coordinator of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program (SANE) at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Bremerton where Ms. Graf coordinated and developed the SANE program and performed acute and chronic care examinations on sexual assault victims of all ages. Cheryl also had the privilege of directing the Mary Bridge Children s Emergency Department and Child Express concept in Tacoma, Washington. Ms. Graf works in training department at Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress (HCSAT ) as a nurse practitioner working with the Community Training Program. Educational training as a family nurse practitioner was completed at Pacific Lutheran University and Ms. Graf graduated with her BSN, MSN and nurse practitioner degrees. She has also completed her MBA at the University of Washington., Ms. Graf continues her nurse practitioner practice at the North Mason Medical Clinic in Belfair, Washington seeing acute and chronic patients. She also provides sexual assault examinations for Mason County. Ms. Graf is an active member of the IAFN (International Association of Forensic Nurses) and ENA (Emergency Nurses Association). She has worked closely with HCSAT to develop the SANE Core Training course and the guidelines for care of sexual assault victims. She has a true focus for the pediatric population and conducts many well child examinations annually as well as child abuse workups. The consistent and compassionate care of all sexual assault patients in WA state has been an overriding theme that Cheryl has promoted for the past 15 years.

Allen Trimmings Sexual Assault Center of Pierce County Tacoma Mr. Allen Trimmings is currently the Education/Prevention Director of the Sexual Assault Center of Pierce County. He has been with the agency for the past 5 years. For the first 4 ½ years in the agency Allen started out as the agencies first male crisis/medical Sexual Assault Advocate. This is a position not known throughout the country for males to hold. While working as an Advocate Allen served as a member of the Board of Director for the Washington Coalition for Sexual Assault Programs. Because of his experience, and dual background in sexual assault and the criminal justice system, he was hired as the Special Projects Manager for the Washington Coalition for Sexual Assault Programs. Allen was responsible for the Prison Rape Elimination Project (PREA). He has assisted the Department of Corrections (DOC) in writing and revising their policies and procedures relative to their responses to sexual assaults in prison, including the care that DOC provides to sexual assault survivors and DOC investigations of assaults in both adult and juvenile facilities. He is also responsible for writing the curriculums for both DOC and JRA for responding to sexual assault victims and survivors. Allen also has years of experience working as a Correction Officer in both a State Prison, and a Juvenile Facility in Washington State. Allen s personal and professional development/memberships consist of Washington Coalition for Sexual Assault Programs Board of Directors, Olympia, WA, Unite States Human Rights Network, Washington, DC, Washington Commission Against Domestic Violence, McChord Air Force Sexual Assault Review Board. STOPMAX International, Washington D. C. Sarah Atterbury Washington State Patrol Crime Lab Sarah has been employed by the Washington State Patrol for 1 ½ years and is a Forensic Scientist in the Bio/DNA section. She graduated from the University of Washington in the spring of 2003 with a Bachelor s of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology. Prior to working at the Crime Lab, she worked in an autoimmune disease research lab at the Beneroya Research Institute.

Amy K. Smith Forensic Scientist Washington State Patrol Crime Lab Amy completed her B.A. in Biology at Hartwick College in upstate New York in 2002 and her M.S. in Biology from the University of Kentucky in 2005. She worked in the Forensic Biology section of the Kentucky State Police Central Forensic Lab for 1 ¾ years before she decided to go west and moved to Washington. She has been working in the DNA section of the WSP Crime Lab since September 2007. Rachelle White Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress Rachelle received her MSW from the University of Washington while she interned as a counselor with Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress. Rachelle then went on to work as a sexual assault Victim Advocate at the King County Prosecutor's Office. Rachelle then ran the University of Washington's Sexual Assault and Relationship Violence Information Service for 6 years, doing prevention and intervention work with University students. For the past two years, Rachelle has been the Supervisor of Social Work at Harborview ER. While Rachelle truly enjoys her work, her greatest joy is her family life and her children. Richard Harruff, MD, Ph.D. King County Medical Examiner s Office Richard Harruff is the Chief Medical Examiner for the King County Medical Examiner s Office and is certified in Forensic Pathology. Dr. Harruff received an MD and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Indiana State University in 1976. Dr. Harruff has presented many training sessions for Law Enforcement and Health Professionals regarding injuries of all types. Dr. Harruff s research interest in domestic violence has also led him to present on the topic of strangulation injuries.

Kate Espy, RN, BSN Harrison Hospital Sexual Assault Center Bremerton Kate Espy has been s staff nurse, charge nurse and patient care supervisor for Harrison Hospital Emergency Department for 16 years. She has been a SANE nurse for nine years and worked as the clinic nurse at Harrison s Sexual Assault Clinic for the last seven years. Ms. Espy has lectured at various SANE trainings and has published an article on male assault victims. Ms. Espy has performed over 500 sexual assault exams. Dale Fukura, MN, RN, APFNS, SANE President WA Chapter of IAFN After graduating from Shoreline CC Nursing program in 1996 and the University of Washington RN to BSN program in 2006, I worked in a variety of positions including Immunization nurse for Snohomish County, a school nurse, a pediatric nurse and a charge nurse for the pediatric unit at Swedish Medical Center. In 2006 I graduated from the Masters in Forensic Nursing Program at UW and began working as a Forensic Nurse Examiner for Providence Intervention Center for Assault and Abuse (PICAA). Early in 2008, I left Swedish to take a program nurse position at PICAA while continuing to work there as a Forensic Nurse Examiner. I am also the current President of the Washington Chapter of IAFN and a member of the Snohomish County Elder Abuse Task Force. Allison McNally, RN-SANE A Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress Alison has worked in the field of Women s Health including wellness, perinatal and sexual assault since graduation from University of Rhode Island in the early 70 s. She has been a member of the Harborview SANE program since 2000. Currently, Ms. McNally is the HCSATS clinic nurse and lead RN for the SANE program. She was certified by the IAFN in 2004 as a SANE-A She joined the Medical Team at the HCSATS in May 2004.

Lisa Krogman RN Harborview Medical Center for Lisa has been working with the Harbor view Medical Center SANE program for 2 1/2 years. She currently works as a public health nurse at the 45th Street clinic in their Health Care for the Homeless Program and as a nurse practitioner at a school-based health center. Ms. Krogman got her BSN from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a masters in nursing as a pediatric nurse practitioner. Detective Kevin Grossman Police Department Kevin Grossman has been with the Police Department for ten years, and has been a detective in the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit for the past five years. Lisa Johnson, JD King County Prosecutor s Office Lisa Johnson has been with the King County Prosecutor s Office since 1990 and a member of the Special Assault Unit Since 1995. Ms. Johnson specializes in the handling of cases involving the sexual and physical abuse of children and all cases involving sexual assault of adults. Ms. Johnson oversees the work of 13 deputies, 2 paralegals, and 2 forensic child interviewers.

Jolene Culbertson,ARNP, MN Harrison Medical Center Bremerton I have worked in Nursing for over 30 years, with the last 16 years as an ARNP. My background includes; teaching at Olympic College and Pacific Lutheran University, precepting ARNP students from the U of W, providing Psychiatric ARNP services in community mental health centers, hospitals, community health clinics, Pierce County Jail, Tacoma Rescue Mission s Health Care for the Homeless project, long term care facilities, home health agencies and case management in the community. I ve been a SANE examiner since 3/05, and the Clinical Coordinator for the SANE Program since 6/06. I completed the Advanced Practice Forensic Nurse Specialist Post Master s Certificate program at the U of W in 12/07. Barb Haner, ARNP Providence Medical Group Everett, Washington Barbara Boslaugh Haner holds a Master Degree of Nursing and is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. As the Clinical Coordinator for the Providence Everett Sexual Assault Center, she conducts or supervises over 500 examinations of children, adolescents, and adults annually. Ms. Haner manages and conducts training with the SANE team, which responds to 4 emergency departments. With over 26 years of experience, she has extensive nursing, medical and social science training in the multifaceted phenomenon of sexual violence and has spoken at conferences both locally and nationally. Ms. Haner is a member of several community coalitions and partnerships. She has a comprehensive background in program development and evaluation design. Ms. Haner received an appointment to the Washington State Offender Change Standards committee.

Shea Brinias, RN Harrison Memorial Hospital & Harborview Medical Center Shea Brinias is currently working for both Harrison Memorial Hospital and Harborview Medical Center as SANE Nurse in the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program. Ms. Brinias worked as RN in the Emergency Department and Urgent Care Clinic settings at Harborview Medical Center caring for sexual assault victims. Ms. Brinias received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at University of Washington, and nursing diploma back East.
