FINANCEMENT The research infrastructures built in the tunnel, the investment on experimental equipment, the running costs and other scientific activities of the LSC are financed by the Spanish National Program of Particle Physics. Partial funding has come from the University of Zaragoza, the European Union 5 th and 6 th framework programs (ILIAS) and the Regional Government of Aragon. The University of Zaragoza holds the right of use of the underground facilities. LSC. & U. de Zaragoza 12

WHAT COMES NEXT? LSC. & U. de Zaragoza 24
THE CANFRANC UNDERGROUND LABORATORY FINANCEMENT TENDERING EXECUTION BASIC INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT APROVED (4 M ) FINISHED STARTING NOW (1 yr) APPLIED FOR DGA-UZ UZ-MEC CONSORTIUM (under discussion) LSC. & U. de Zaragoza 25
The LSC would be run by a consortium. All the 3 institutions involved have expressed a clear interest. A brand new Institute would be created to provide scientific, technical and logistic support to the activities of the LSC and Astroparticle Physics in general. It is our purpose to turn this into a first class scientific installation & group. The existing UZ group would be associated to the consortium. The activities of the new LSC would be integrated and coordinated within the ILIAS network. Strong international participation is an absolute must. The advice of ApPEC would be seeked. LSC. & U. de Zaragoza 26
