NORWIN SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION JOB ANALYSIS The Computer Network Technician resolves user and network problems, supports the daily operations of the local and Wide-Area Networks, and establishes and maintains effective working relationships with office and District employees in the completion of department functions and procedures. The Technician shall strive to improve and/or acquire the skills necessary to support the ongoing efficiency and growth of the Norwin School District network system. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Troubleshoots software and hardware failures and brings these failures to a satisfactory resolution. 2. Acts as Tier 1 Help Desk Support and Tier 2 Network Support. 3. Performs installation of new and updated hardware and software in both a stand-alone and networked environment. 4. Ensures that only licensed legal software is installed on all district computers as approved and directed by the Manager of Information Technology Services. 5. Maintains records including problem documentation, action taken, solution and similar tracking data. 6. Maintains an inventory of parts and supplies necessary for the operation of the department. 7. Analyzes potential problems and takes corrective action as approved by the Manager of Information Technology Services. 8. Aids District employees in their use of the computer equipment. 9. Conducts training on the use of various hardware, software, network and telephony. 10. Creates, deletes, and modifies user accounts via Active Directory. 11. Performs system backups under direction of Computer Network Administrator. 12. Installs operating system upgrades and patches under direction of Computer Network Administrator. 13. Researches and evaluates new technologies as assigned and/or approved by the Manager of Information Technology Services.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager of Information Technology Services. SPECIALITY FUNCTIONS 1. Copier and copier network support, troubleshoot equipment failures and communicate with vendor to resolve. 2. Network Password assignment for all new students grades 3-12 including; password reset for students grades 3-12 3. Door access programming for all K-4 elementary schools, stadium and field house. 4. Backup support for Google drive issues. 5. Backup support for Phone equipment issues. 6. Interscholastic Athletic setup in Skyward Activities tracking. COGNITIVE ABILITIES Ability to establish and maintain rapport with staff, business associates, and general community. Ability to work on multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately. Ability to recognize areas of concern relating to computer, software, or network issues and propose or recommend appropriate solutions to problems. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to exercise initiative and make independent decisions to reschedule work to meet deadlines or to effectively handle emergency work. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, sometimes with little or no notice. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS The requirements of this position are: High School graduate with two years of vocational education in computing

JOB DESCRIPTION, CONTINUED Page 3 of 5 networking and/or an Associate Degree in computer related studies or any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. Proficient with Microsoft based PCs and operating systems preferred, experienced with current Microsoft Operating Systems and Ethernetbased networking, experience installing PC hardware and software, knowledge of Microsoft Office and various productivity applications and active networking components. Ability to diagnose and communicate status of problems incurred in daily operation of the department. Ability to express technical concepts clearly and concisely in written and oral communications. Demonstrated knowledge and application of effective technology principles, practices and trends. Must be able to perform the above responsibilities at a high level. REPORTS TO Manager of Information Technology Services POSITION REQUIREMENTS Physical Demands: Frequent travel to School District offices, buildings, classroom and grounds. Frequent traversing throughout various buildings. Often sitting for extended periods. Standing for periods of time. Moderate lifting from 15-30 pounds. Some moving of various items - up to 30 pounds. Manual dexterity to use office equipment. Repetitive operation of computer keyboard. Sensory Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively in all aspects of the job. Work Environment: Generally, office setting year round.

Clearances: Must have valid Act 34 (Criminal Record Check), Act 151 (Child Abuse History Check) and FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) Criminal History Check. Must also complete and submit an Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form as required under Pennsylvania Act 24 of 2011. Must also accrue all training hours and content mandated by Pennsylvania Act 126 of 2012, Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting.

EVALUATION Performance will be evaluated annually by the Manager of Information Technology Services in accordance with the provisions of the School Board policy on evaluation of support services personnel. Approved by Administration and provided to the Board of School Directors on November 18, 2013.
