1 Instructional Technology Facilitator JOB DETAILS Identify the educational needs of others to develop training programs or workshops. Develop, design, and create new ideas for technology integration. Establish and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, including work as a team member. Use computers and computer systems effectively Process new information to problem solve and make decisions. Effectively use data systems to analyze data. Interpret the meaning of technology-related information and explain to others how it can be used. Provide guidance and expert advice in the area of technology integration. Communicate positively with individuals both inside and outside of ESU 8. Serve as a member of the statewide ESU Technology Affiliate Group (TAG). Represent ESU 8 to stakeholders, schools, the public, government, and other external sources. Department: Technology C. Education Level and Certification: Bachelors degree or higher required. Must possess at all times during employment a Nebraska Teaching Certificate with such endorsements as required by NDE Rule 10. Degree in education required and experience with technology in a school setting preferred. D. Reports To: Administrator E. Performance Responsibilities and Job Tasks The primary responsibility of the Instructional Technology Facilitator is to plan, develop, implement, direct, review and evaluate the programs and activities related to instructional technology under the general direction of the Administrator. Programs and activities include use of technology to improve staff productivity and student learning; use of technology to maintain data and meet reporting requirements; assistance with purchase, installation, and use of software, computers and peripherals; delivery of training to optimize technology integration in ESU 8 schools; and, assistance with oversight of technology budget and development and implementation of the ESU 8 technology plan. The Instructional Technology Facilitator may delegate duties. Such delegation does not relieve the Instructional Technology Facilitator from ultimate responsibility or accountability. 1. Integration of Technology into the Instructional Program a. Submit a budget annually to the Administrator of anticipated technology needs and enhancements. b. Coordinate staff development activities to promote effective use of available instructional/administrative technology resources. c. Recommend and implement ESU 8 s long-range technology plan for all ESU 8 sites as a member of the Technology Team. d. Support instructional needs and enhance technology integration in the classroom; assist in the evaluation and selection of instructional software. e. Assist staff in integrating the use of computers and related technologies into the curriculum. f. Assist staff and students experiencing difficulty with use of technology or having special needs related to technology. g. Participate in meetings with administrative and teacher teams concerning technology. Instructional Technology Facilitator 1 of 6
3 h. Seek out and submit applications for available grant funds related to technology and ensure compliance with such grants. 2. Management of Technology Systems a. Research new technologies by attending seminars, reading trade articles, or taking classes, and implement or recommend the implementation of new technologies. b. Recommend changes to improve systems, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes. c. Gather and analyze data pertaining to ESU 8 and school district needs. d. Coordinate with vendors and with administration to facilitate purchases. 3. General Responsibilities a. Keep current with federal and state laws impacting the school district s technology system and operations, as well as proposed legislation impacting technology system and operations, by attending conferences and other professional development activities. b. Take necessary steps, within the scope of the Instructional Technology Facilitator s responsibilities, to assure the security, safety and welfare of students and employees in ESU 8 in using the Unit s technology system and operations. c. Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules. d. Adhere to the code of ethics of ESU 8. The Instructional Technology Facilitator must serve as a positive role model for staff and students. e. Perform other tasks or duties as assigned by the Board or the Administrator. F. Required Knowledge The Instructional Technology Facilitator is to possess and effectively utilize knowledge in the following areas: 1. Computers and Electronics Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications. 2. English Language Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. 3. Education and Training Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects. 4. Public Safety and Security Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions. 5. Customer and Personal Service Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. G. Required Skills and Abilities Instructional Technology Facilitator 2 of 6

H. Work Activities The Instructional Technology Facilitator is to perform the following work activities: 1.
