Procedure to manually backup and restore Views and Settings in MERLIN Dashboard The instructions below detail the navigation and copying of the Custom Table Views, Custom Report Views and the SQL Connection files. This procedure should be used when a fresh installation is being performed for MERLIN, where the existing files have not been backed up. Launch windows explorer and go to your Manager settings where you will be able to copy the table view xml files and report xml files. STEP 1: First make sure that you can see hidden folders and files in windows explorer. To display hidden files and folders 1. Open Folder Options in Control Panel. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Appearance and Themes, and then click Folder Options. 2. On the View tab, under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders. For XP users go to: For Table Views: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Memex Automation Inc\MERLIN\Data NOTE: older installs will have the following path- C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Memex Automation Inc\AxOEEManager\Data Tables (the xml files and map files located here make up the table views) Copy out the xml and associated map files and then paste these files into a temporary location For Custom Report Views: The report views created with an earlier version of AxOEE Manager are not compatible with the new report templates included in the latest MERLIN install. The user will need to recreate their respective report views from the new report templates. For SQL Connection File:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Memex Automation Inc\MERLIN\SQL (the connection.xml file located in this folder is used to connect your MERLIN Dashboard to your SQL Server) NOTE: older installations will have the following path- C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Memex Automation Inc\AxOEEManager\SQL (the connection.xml file located in this folder is used to connect your MERLIN dashboard to your SQL Server) Copy out the xml file and then paste the file into a temporary location For Vista and Windows 7 & 8 users go to: For Table Views: C:\ProgramData\Memex Automation Inc\MERLIN\Data Tables (the xml files and map files located here make up the table views) NOTE: older installations will have the following path- C:\ProgramData\Memex Automation Inc\AxOEEManager\Data Tables (the xml files and map files located here make up the table views) Copy out the connection.xml and associated map files and then paste these files into a temporary location For Custom Report Views: The report views created with an earlier version of AxOEE Manager are not compatible with the new report templates included in the latest AxOEE Manager install. The user will need to recreate their respective report views from the new report templates. For SQL Connection File: C:\ProgramData\Memex Automation Inc\AxOEEManager \SQL (the connection.xml file located in this folder is used to connect your AxOEE Manager to your SQL Server) Copy out the connection.xml file and then paste the file into a temporary location STEP 2: Uninstall previous version (see below) INSTALL the new version of the AxOEE Manager from the install file supplied. This feature is valuable when a company is not yet collecting specific information metric yet requires a value against which the other metrics are calculated. For instance, a company may be focusing on utilization improvements and will not concentrate on quality or performance. In this case the company would peg the Quality and Performance metrics with a current estimate value. The default settings are -1 which allows for the dashboard to post real incoming data. The method allows for a pegged value to be assigned at a machine level or globally across all machines. To set pegged values for a particular machine: 1. Select the By Machine radio button 2. Select the machine by highlighting it in the list 3. Type in the value (it will be displayed as a percentage) into the metric fields. In this case Yield was set to 100 (%) 4. The Standard Rate was set to 95 (%) 5. The Save button is pressed to finalize the edit.

Once the settings are complete, click the Close button. The popup window will close. Then click the Cancel button on the AxOEE Manager Login popup.

The Updates menu item can be accessed from the utilities top menu selection. The Updates utility checks the current client s version number with the Memex OEE Server to determine if there are any update available. The Updates meny item has three selections. The Server Setup must be completed before any updates will be received. Server Setup for Updates Click on the Updates item and select the Server Setup menu item. A setup dialog screen will appear.

The download folder usually can also be left as default, however in the event that another folder is used, a user can click on the folder icon and search for the correct folder. Checking for Updates The AxOEE Manager, when configured, will check for updates when it is launched, when it is scheduled and when the user clicks the Check for Updates menu item. Under any of these conditions the utility will connect to the server and check for a newer version. If a newer version is found a pop up window will appear indicating a newer version is available.
