Investing in the Future The Trinidad Trini Garza Early College High School at Mountain View College is a non-magnet high school which opened in August 2006, through a partnership between Mountain View College and the Dallas Independent School District. Through academic effort, motivation, and collaboration students at Trinidad Trini Garza Early College High School at Mountain View College have the ability to earn and accumulate enough dual credit or college credit at Mountain View College to graduate from both high school and community college. Highlights of recent accomplishments and awards of Trinidad Trini Garza Early College High School at Mountain View College include: Recognized in 2012 as one of the best schools in the nation as the winner of the National Center for Urban School Transformation award. Also recognized in 2012 as one of the Top 10 Public High Schools in North Texas by Children at Risk. In 2012, forty-five students received an associate's degree and their high school diploma, as well as a record $2 million in scholarships and aid. Recipient of the Texas Comptroller s 2011 Texas Honors Circle Award, which recognizes schools and districts that are achieving academic success through cost-effective operations. Award recipients achieve strong academic performance while spending relatively little compared to their peers. Only 46, or 4 percent of all Texas school districts earned five stars. Paving the Way with Dual Credit Are you a high school student interested in taking college courses? Dual Credit courses are taught either at Mountain View College or participating high schools. Courses are taught by college faculty or by qualified high school instructors who meet the same criteria as college faculty. If you are interested in Dual Credit courses, check with your high school counselor for a complete list of available courses. Dual Credit academic courses are transferable to all Texas public colleges and universities and to some private and out-of-state institutions.
