Sustainable city collaboration between the City of Malmö and E. ON in the Hyllie Project Background City of Malmö has appointed Hyllie as next flagship area for sustainable city development and has invited E.ON to contribute with an integrated energy concept A joint project was initiated in March 2010 with the objective to develop such a concept Main focus on concept development General theme of the concept is towards an infrastructural holistic approach between the electricity, heat, cooling, transport and waste, and to focus on the interplay between supply/infrastructure and consumption/behavior Buildings and real estate Consumption/behavio r supply / infrastructure El Transport Värme & kyla Avfall Page 51

A climate contract between the City of Malmö and E.ON is signed which defines the joint visions and ambitions for the Hyllie area The challenge is to develop competitive solutions while adapting them to tomorrow's opportunities 52

The starting point for a competitive solution is high energy efficiency as well as integration and optimization between different infrastructures Energy supply model Local power Principles of Energy Concept Decentralized energy - heat and power Distributed Heat and power Waste for energy recycling Hyllie Sustainable City Waste and residues Infrastructure Anaerobic digestion Organic waste & sewage Waste for material recycling Utilization of local conditions High energy efficiency throughout the value chain 100 % renewable or recycled energy. Hyllie should be a guide for the entire City of Malmö's work on sustainable development 53

The energy concept in Hyllie aimes at establishing solutions where offices, residentials and other astablichments becomes an integrated part of the energy system 4 interconnected areas of focus System & infrastructure Intelligently integrated infrastructure system Energy balancing between local loads/energy flows Energy supply Renewable sources Central and decentralized energy Transport E-mobility Gas Demand management Behaviour Smart energy usage Automation Building automation and management system Ambitions from the climate contract Application of smart technologies that enable a balance between production and consumption In Hyllie conditions are created for a climate friendly lifestyle, it should be easy to do right. Hyllie will become a world-leading demonstration area for climatefriendly solutions. Page 54

Integrated approach in Hyllie to create infrastructure synergies and incremental values for the entire city Integrated infrastructure set-up for Hyllie General principles Energy efficiency throughout value chain Resource efficiency to reach high level of selfsupply 100 % renewable of recycled energy supply

Areas in scope of concept development in Hyllie Smart Grids solution Demonstrate values from a customer and grid perspective E-mobility solutions for electric vehicles Distributed generation Efficient energy use Develop standardized full-fledged product concerning e-mobility Provide solutions of integrating distributed energy to power- and DH grid Enhance value of integrated supply/grid solution Smart portfolio for building and home energy management Energy supply and infrastructure Lokal värmeproduktion Central produktion Energiåtervinning Lokal elproduktion Hyllie Avfall och restprodukter Infrastruktur Biogas Organiskt avfall och avlopp Materialåtervinning Integrated energy concept with DH as heat solution RES investments focus on wind power Short term Long term Page 56

Smart home applications Photo voltaic and Solar thermal The starting point for many Sustainable City project is to have an equally strong focus on the use of production Distribution Company Control of the local grid and home for balancing purposes Retail Company Electric Vehicle Charging and storage Smart Metering Demand side management and micro generation control Online interfaces for consumer control AC and DC network in the home Automation logic built into the home, based on E.ON price signals Smart products and services for the consumer Pricing / EEX Price signals to the home for automation and cost saving
