8 Irvine Smart Grid Demonstration Project SCE, its partners and the DOE are conducting a demonstration to analyze smart grid technologies and impacts at scale Project seeks to verify, quantify, and validate the feasibility of integrating Smart Grid technologies. Demonstration will analyze multiple areas of smart grid technology, including: Distribution Automation HAN Efficacy PEV Energy Storage Solar PV Generation Cyber Security 8

14 California Policy: Build More Efficiently California Long Term Energy Efficiency Strategic Plan Statewide roadmap to achieve cost-effective energy efficiency. Establishes far-reaching aspirational goals for California s energy future: All new residential construction in California Zero net energy by 2020 All new commercial construction in California Zero net energy by 2030 Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry and market transformed to ensure that energy performance is optimal for California s climate All eligible low-income customers opportunity to participate in EE and will be provided all cost effective energy efficiency measures in their residences by

15 SCE is Promoting the Design & Construction of Energy Efficient Buildings Savings by Design Nonresidential Building Design & Construction New construction builders and buyers can receive design assistance, owner incentives, design team incentives, and energy design resources to incorporate energy efficiency into the construction plans. Incentives of up to $500,000 for Owner / Developer; Up to $50,000 for Design Team Leader. California Advanced Homes Residential New Construction Design assistance, technical education and services, and financial incentives to encourage home builders to build homes that exceed California s Title 24 code standards by at least 15%. Incentives increase incrementally as the performance of the structure increases. 15
