College of Continuing Studies Scholarships 2015 & 2016 AVAILABILITY: ROBERT M. AND MURIEL R. BARKSDALE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to a part-time or full-time student, undergraduate or graduate students at least 25 years of age or older, who graduated from high schools in West Alabama, and who demonstrate satisfactory academic progress. Amount: Variable DOROTHY D. AND JOHN J. BOYNE ENDOWED SUPPORT FUND Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to a University of Alabama undergraduate student; who is at junior or senior standing and pursuing a degree in the public service area, demonstrated academic excellent (3.0 GPA or above) and demonstrated leadership qualities, who is an Alabama resident, currently enrolled or accepted for admission, and is pursuing a degree though programs facilitated by The College of WILLIAM E. BRIGHT ENDOWMENT (For the Support of Natural Gas Programs & Scholarships) Eligibility: Applicant must be an employee or the dependent of an employee of a member company of Alabama Natural Gas Association; part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate student, either currently enrolled or accepted for admission to the University of Alabama; be an Alabama resident; demonstrate academic excellence; exhibit outstanding leadership qualities and establish financial need (not as necessarily as defined by Federal guidelines); preference will be given to students who are taking courses facilitated through the College of JAMES C. ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP student who is currently admitted or accepted for admission; who is currently in the Air Force or other U.S. Armed Forces, and pursuing a degree facilitated by the College of Continuing Studies, who is in good academic standing (3.0 GPA or higher). Preference will be given to persons stationed or employed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL.Amount: Variable

CAROLYN AND DENNIS DAHL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP students who are enrolled in academic degree programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies, who demonstrate financial need, although not necessarily defined by federal guidelines, and who exhibit academic excellence. Amount: Variable GLADYS M. FERNANDEZ ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FOR SINGLE PARENTS Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student, who is enrolled or accepted for admission to a degree program facilitated by the College of Continuing Studies. Priority consideration will be given to students who are single parents with primary responsibility for the care of a child under the age of 18. Amount: Variable CONNIE G. GLAZE MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: Must be a support staff member (clerical) of the College of Continuing Studies, working a minimum of 25 hours per week. Recipients must be a part-time or full-time student, undergraduate or graduate student, either currently enrolled or accepted for admission. Amount: Variable THOMAS S. GRAVES MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP student; currently enrolled or accepted for admission to the University of Alabama; intending to enroll in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies during the term in which the award is received (with secondary consideration given to applicants in any other academic division), an Alabama resident, 25 years of age or older; demonstrate academic excellence with a GPA of 3.0 majoring in a science-based curriculum, This scholarship is meritbased; financial needis not required. Priority will be given to residents from Etowah and Cherokee counties. Amount: Variable JOEL D. HAMMOND/BIG RIVER INC. ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to a University of Alabama student who is enrolled in the New College Life Track (formerly The External Degree Program ) who are either employees or dependents of employees of Big River Industries located in Marietta, Georgia. Second consideration will be given to students enrolled in other academic degree programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies who are either employees or dependents of employees of Big River Industries. Amount: Variable JACK AND AUDREY HATMAKER MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP student who is a resident of the state of Alabama, who is currently enrolled or accepted for admission and is pursuing a degree in business though programs facilitated by The College of KAY H. HODGES MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to a University of Alabama student, undergraduate or graduate, who is enrolled or accepted for admission to the Nursing program facilitated through

the College of Continuing Studies. First priority will be given to students from Cobb County, GA or Etowah and Tallapoosa counties in the state of Alabama. Student must demonstrate financial need, but not necessarily as defined by federal financial aid guidelines. Amount: Variable JAMES A. HOOD ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP students; 25 years of age or older who are residents of the state of Alabama and graduated from the state s public school system; who are pursuing a degree as a teacher or school administrator, and intend to enroll in academic programs facilitated through the College of ELIZABETH B. AND RONALD C. HOWARD ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student; part-time or full-time; enrolled in the New College Life Track Program (formerly External Degree Program); 25 years of age or older. Preference will be given to students who have completed at least 12 semester hours of graded work under the auspices of the EXD Program and have a GPA of 2.0 or better. Demonstration of financial need (not necessarily as defined by Federal guidelines) may also be a consideration for the award. Amount: Variable ALISA BARR JOHNSON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student, who is enrolled or accepted for admission to the Nursing program facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies and demonstrates academic excellence. Amount: Variable JEROLD KENNEDY MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP through the College of Continuing Studies, with preference given to students pursuing a degree in disciplines served by the College of KING-BLACKBURN (Friends of the Alabama Gulf Coast) ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP student who is currently admitted or accepted for admission; who graduated from high schools in Baldwin, Mobile, Escambia Counties or adjacent counties; who have incurred hardships as a result of hurricanes or other natural disasters; who is in good academic standing (3.0 GPA or higher) and pursuing a degree through programs facilitated by the College of Continuing Studies. Amount: Variable WILLIAM AND SYBIL LANDAU MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to students 25 years of age or older, who are currently enrolled in or accepted for admission to the New College Life Track Program (formerly External Degree). Priority of consideration shall be given to adult students from Jefferson County, Alabama. Second priority will be given to students in other counties within the state of Alabama. Third consideration will be given to students residing outside of the state of Alabama. Must be in good academic standing. Amount: Variable

ROBERT ROSS MACDONALD MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to a part-time or full-time undergraduate students with a grade point average of at least 2.5; priority of consideration will be given to residents of Alabama, first from families involved directly in the trucking industry, and second from families in businesses which indirectly support the trucking industry; secondary consideration shall be given to applicants who enroll in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies, with priority given to deserving students who demonstrate financial need (not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines). Amount: Variable EBER MANN MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to a full-time undergraduate student, with priority of consideration given to students from Winston or surrounding counties, whose high school academic records, college entrance exam results and character indicate a reasonable probability of success; secondary consideration will be given to deserving applicants who plan to enroll in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies; demonstration of financial need (not necessarily as defined by Federal guidelines) may also be a consideration for the award. Amount: Variable GRACE L. & COLONEL FLOYD H. MANN MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student, full-time or part-time; enrolled at the University of Alabama or accepted for admission; first consideration will be given to students who are children of law enforcement officials and/or who intend to pursue a career in law enforcement and demonstrates financial need (not necessarily as defined by Federal guidelines). Amount: Variable NEW COLLEGE LIFE TRACK SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the New College Life Track program (formerly External Degree), who are currently admitted or accepted for admission, and are in good academic standing and who demonstrate financial need (not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines). Amount: Variable JOHN COOK NICHOLS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP student who is currently admitted or accepted for admission and enrolled in a degree program facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies, exhibit academic excellence, and demonstrate financial need (not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines). Amount: Variable CLARICE L. PARKER MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP student; currently enrolled or accepted for admission; 25 years of age or older; an Alabama resident; GPA of 2.5 or above for previous semester of courses taken; preference will be given to students intending to enroll in academic programs facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies during the term in which the award is received, demonstrate financial need; primary preference will also be given to students from Tuscaloosa county (Must file Federal financial aid form). Amount: Variable

MARY LOIS & H. HARRISON PARRISH ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student who is pursuing a degree in nursing and who is enrolled in at least one credit course given via distance education through the College of Continuing Studies; priority will be given to students taking courses by video tape; must demonstrate financial need and be an Alabama resident. Amount: Variable DOUGLAS W. PATTERSON MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP through the College of Continuing Studies, with preference given to students in disciplines served by the College of WILLIAM HENRY RHEA, JR. MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP student; who is an Alabama resident; 25 years of age or older; demonstrate academic excellence (GPA 3.0) and establish financial need. Preference will be given to those majoring in Engineering or Business who are taking courses facilitated through the College of THE JOHN H. SELLERS, SR. MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to a part-time or full-time undergraduate student, currently enrolled or accepted for admission, in good academic standing, and must be an Alabama resident. Priority will be given to those high school graduates who were little brothers or little sisters, and affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Birmingham, Alabama. Secondary consideration will be given to those who participated with Big Brothers Big Sisters of other surrounding cities in the state of Alabama. Third consideration will be given to student enrolled in degree program facilitated through the College of Continuing Studies. Must demonstrate financial need, although not necessarily as defined by federal guidelines. Amount: Variable JOHN C. SNIDER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP through the College of Continuing Studies; must demonstrate satisfactory academic progress. Amount: Variable RUTH P. SNIDER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP through the College of Continuing Studies, with preference given to students with a major on minor subject in music, music education, or a related field; must demonstrate satisfactory academic progress. Amount: Variable

TATE J. THOMAS AND MARY B. STRICKLAND MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP student who is an Alabama resident; pursuing a degree through academic programs facilitated by the College of Continuing Studies, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and possesses financial need. Amount: Variable HERSHEL TRIMM MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP student; currently enrolled or accepted for admission; 25 years of age or older; an Alabama resident; GPA of 2.5 or above for the previous semester of classes taken and be enrolled in at least one College of Continuing Studies Course during the semester in which the award is received. Priority will be given to those pursuing a degree in the home-building field. Amount: Variable WARRIOR ROOFING - THOMAS G. SHURETT MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student, who is currently enrolled or accepted for admission. First priority will be given to employees of Warrior Roofing Company, Inc. and their dependents who are pursuing their education at The University of Alabama. Second consideration may be given to deserving students from West Alabama enrolled in academic programs facilitated through the College of ROBERT L. WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP student; 25 years of age or older; enrolled or accepted for admission to the University of Alabama; majoring in engineering or business; facilitating their education through the College of Continuing Studies. Must demonstrate academic excellence (3.0 GPA/4.0 scale), and show financial need. Amount: Variable JERRY F. WILSON, SR. MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student; part-time or full-time; 25 years of age or older; enrolled at the University of Alabama or accepted for admission; who are enrolled in academic programs facilitated through the college of Continuing Studies; with preference given to students pursuing a degree in disciplines served through the Distance Education program in the College of JUDITH H. WILSON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP Eligibility: This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student; part-time or full-time; enrolled at the University of Alabama or accepted for admission; who are pursuing a degree in nursing and who are facilitating their education through the College of Continuing Studies video tape delivery program or other distance learning methods. Priority of consideration will be given to students from Marion and Winston counties. Amount: Variable

APPLICATION REVIEW CYCLES Applications will be reviewed in intervals in order to make scholarship awards for Summer, Fall and Spring each year, or until funds have been exhausted. You only need to submit one (1) application for consideration for 2015-16 awards. NOTE: APPLICATION CAN ONLY BE SUBMITTED ONLINE AT MYBAMA.UA.EDU. CLICK THE ACADEMICS TAB AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE. THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 1, 2015. Scholarship award notifications will be sent according to the schedule below: Fall 2015/Spring 2016 award notifications will be sent in July 2015 Spring 2016/Summer 2016 award notifications will be sent in November 2015 Summer 2016 award notifications will be sent in February 2016 All correspondence regarding scholarships will be sent to your Crimson e-mail account. *If you selected one of the special category scholarships, you must provide proof of the applicable company or organization affiliation as indicated on the scholarship application.
