Springboard to a DCS Springboard to a DCS is designed for students who want to take CEGEP credit courses in order to: Explore CEGEP Studies Study part <me or full <me Complete prerequisites required for admission to a CEGEP program Upgrade their academic record to improve their chances of admission or readmission to a CEGEP program Complete courses that are part of a CEGEP program You cannot graduate from Springboard to a DCS!

University Prerequisites For students who already have a DEC or equivalent from CEGEP or College. Students who are comple<ng courses specifically required by a university for admission to a program must register in program 08040. You can be either part- <me or full- <me.

Applied to a day program and were refused?

Possible Reasons Missing a prerequisite(s) Prerequisites completed more than 5 years ago Weak academic record Weak language skills Audition, portfolio, or interview not strong enough Program highly competitive

Placement Tests The next dates for English and French placement tests are: Tuesday, August 4th at 2:30 pm Wednesday, August 5th at 6pm Monday, August 10th at 2:30pm Wednesday, August 12th at 6pm Thursday, August 13 at 2:30pm * All tests are in room 4C.1 Please see the Continuing Education Timetable on page 13 for more information about placement tests

But what courses should I take?

Types of Courses CEGEP Prerequisites and Upgrading Courses you need to be admissible to a CEGEP program or to prepare for certain college-level courses Examples: Remedial Activities for Secondary IV Math (201-016-50) Remedial Activities for Secondary V English Language Arts (603-001-50) Please note: Remedial courses do not count towards CEGEP graduation ü Make sure you know the prerequisites for the program you want to apply to. Check the website, come to Open House, ask an Advisor.

Types of Courses General Education Courses (English, French & Humanities) Common to all programs Examples: Introduction to College English (603-101-MQ) Humanities: Knowledge (345-101-MQ) You must write a placement test in order to register for English. Your French placement will be based on your Sec. V French grade if you graduated in the last 3 years. Otherwise, you must write a placement test. Please note: Not all English and French courses count towards graduation. If you pass a college level General Education course in Continuing Education, you do not have to repeat it if you are admitted to a CEGEP program.

Types of Courses Concentration Courses Courses that are part of the specific CEGEP program you are hoping to be admitted to Examples: Social Science program: Western Civilization (330-101-DW) Science program: Mechanics (201-NYA-05) Please note: If you pass a college level course in Continuing Education, you do not have to repeat it if you are admitted to a CEGEP program If you are not sure if a course is part of the CEGEP program you hope to apply to, check with an Advisor

Types of Courses Complementary Courses 2 complementary courses are required in any DCS program List of courses and more information can be found on page 55 of the timetable Must come from areas ( domains ) outside your field of concentration Example: A complementary course from the Social Science domain cannot be applied to a Social Science program.

Studied outside of Quebec? Look at previous exams in Chemistry, Math, Physics on the department website to determine which level to take.

How do I register? How do I register?

Open a file In order to register online for the Fall 2015 semester, you must have opened a file for Continuing Education. You must: Apply online at www.dawsoncollege.qc.ca under Continuing Education (Deadline Aug. 12) The sooner you open your file, the better! Please note! If you applied to the day division and received a letter of refusal that advised you to register in Continuing Education courses, you do not need to open a file. Your file is already open!

Register On-Line On-line Registration Starts August 3 and 4 (Check your personal registration start time on Omnivox) On-line registration ends on August 18 at 11:30 pm On site registration is on August 20, but course selection will be limited. You should register on-line.

Add your courses

Saving When you are happy with your schedule, save your schedule configuration. You can go back later and make changes, but saving reserves your seats while you think things over! In order to save your schedule configuration, you must enter your password. Don t lose your seats. SAVE!

Finalizing When you have added all your courses, you must finalize. Please note: You will get a confirmation number, which you should keep for future reference.

Fees After finalizing, you will be directed to the payment centre. You must pay your fees in full when you register. If you do not pay your fees on time, your course registration may be cancelled and you will remain liable for the non-refundable fees.
