2 The two Business Administration programs at Dawson College follow the same course of study in the first year to give you a solid business foundation in the fundamentals of accounting and marketing. P r o g ra m i n fo r m at i o n is a three-year career program that prepares students for direct entry into the workplace. Emphasis is placed on electronic marketing and international business to give you the tools and knowledge required to operate in a rapidly evolving global environment. students perform an observation stage in a retail environment in the fifth semester of the program and a hands-on stage in an authentic business setting during the last semester. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to: develop a well-structured and well-integrated marketing plan and an international marketing strategy appropriate to a number of environments plan, develop and provide customer service manage sales functions and activities contribute to business methods and management decision-making use computers and appropriate business software applications to respond to international and analytical requirements and to develop an e-marketing strategy use problem-solving and critical thinking skills to select, analyze and interpret information interact and communicate effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing, in both French and demonstrate responsible self-management and the ability to apply moral reasoning to personal, public and professional issues transfer acquired skills and knowledge across disciplines Every student must take four courses, two French courses, three courses, three courses and two complementary courses to receive a CEGEP Diploma. O b j ec t i v es o f t h e P r o g ra m Students are introduced to marketing concepts and various marketing research methods that provide a good understanding of the customers needs and the competitive environment in which firms operate. The field of consumer behaviour is also fully explored. Students further expand their knowledge with the study of the elements of the marketing mix (product, price, promotion and distribution). T h e Wo r k-st u dy O p t i o n Students in the program have the opportunity to complete their program in six terms or choose the Work-Study profile which allows them to have two paid work sessions. The Business Administration programs at Dawson have privileged relationships with large federal and provincial governmental agencies, small and medium-sized enterprises as well as with large multinational corporations. The Work-Study profile offers several advantages to students including: Acquisition of extensive, relevant and practical business experiences; Application the of acquired knowledge and skills in a real business setting; Identification of professional strengths; Acquisition of important skills such as communications, team work, cooperation, and interpersonal skills essential to today s work environment; Financial incentives given that the Work-Study program offers students the opportunity to earn an income during their studies. c a r e e r O p p o rt u n i t i es Business Marketing managers perform tasks related to planning and executing the conception, pricing, promotion and distribution of products. Graduates may supervise a sales team and/or manage a business. Typically, they work for retailers, wholesalers or establishments specializing in the sale of products and services.

5 Business Management (Marketing) A b o u t Daws o n Co l l eg e Dawson College is located in downtown Montreal in a historic building on 12 acres of green space. The first -language institution in the Quebec CEGEP network is today one of the largest with approximately 10,000 students enrolled in more than 50 programs and profiles of study. The College occupies an entire city block and is linked directly to the Atwater Métro station. F e es Tuition is free for Canadian citizens or landed immigrants with permanent residence in Quebec taking at least four courses per semester. A non-refundable $30 application fee and about $200 in student fees are charged. Books and supplies cost between $500 and $1,000 per year, although visual arts supplies are more costly.
